  1. You had to be there, it was quite funny turning boys into girls and vice versa - at the time...
  2. I've got her down as Pamela Raeford or Raelford - anyone know?
  3. I've never seen a boot of the demo - but I actually had two mint/near mint demos this week, both are vinyl and both are from vastly different parts of the States...absolutely 100% guaranteed originals, one of them has even got the record pluggers sticker on the official A side. Run off on Destination side - A - 23116 - 4 PP AT, on Send Him Back side A - 23115 - 3 PP AT
  4. I bet I'll get the blame for this as long time readers will remember me posting some of these up for a laugh about 2 years ago and saying - as a joke - these will be circulating in 6 months time. I also gave the details of the program 'the amazing slow-downer', which I still think is a great little program...

  6. Was that after he split from Spit The Dog?
  7. And there's the rub, as they say - I've never seen a copy of Rocksteady Party but I've seen a dozen copies of Where Is The Love - yet one is priced ten times higher than the other.
  8. Jamaican label is Stag. As someone who has collected the Doctor Bird label for many many years, that price tag is ridiculous. £250 absolute maximum in the real world. A reggae/ska collector wouldn't pay more than £40 for it.
  9. Yes mate, very good version of HB Barnum / Ben E King. I sell it for £25/£30. But they don't usually look as nice as that one. Seriously though, I don't care if anyone likes it or doesn't like it, I thought it was pretty good, and would sound good loud. Thats all. Obviously if Ady C had discovered it and it was unissued you'd all love it
  10. Seen Soul Of Stax about 1000 times mate as it's on one of the dvd compilations I used to do! That track is pre-Stax from the Safice label, not sure if it came out as a 45 but it's on the LP featuring Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett and The Primettes on UK Windmill. Just thought it was a half decent dancer.
  11. I didn't see that mate but try and remember!
  12. No, but you ought to. What you after for goodness sake, it's an uptempo 60's soul dancer, sorry it's not a 70's disco pop record, I'll try and find some for you.
  13. Is a Gwen McCrae LP on Cat worth anything - called Let's Straighten It Out - mint condition record. Just wondered.
  14. See what you think - early 60's R&B sound, probably known but you never know

  16. Not to everyone's taste but I just thought it was a nice/rare live performance on some US tv show back circa 77. I'm not going all 70's by the way
  17. What you on about Shute? You're saying Don't Pity Me might be from 1959? Are you mad? Plus the fact we've already established that WB didn't do mono stereo demos back in 64..
  18. It's definitely a reissue - for a start, it says Side A on it which the original never did.

I swear when I had this a couple of months ago on the yellow label, the artist was LaSawn Collins or LaSaun not LaShawn Collins...posted a scan up on here at the time
  20. As Simon mentioned above, it sneaked out on the second Grapevine album, it's called Let's Do The Duck on there...I don't remember it even being played at the time so how and why it got there is anyone's guess.

I remember at the time, a lot of these had a sticker on the front saying "contains the hit single I'm Your Pimp" - which was never actually released as a single officially. This was back in 76 before it was counterfeited.
  22. Said the same to me. Bet he's starting to twitch. 23. He always leaves here with a bag of records, mainly that I've stuck on the unknowns pile...6 months later he comes back trying to get another copy cos he's sold the first one (that I sold him for £3) for £100. Crafty bugger.
