Can they not claim for the stuff on house insurance? (Serious question)
  2. Maggie Bell's ID was confirmed years ago, in the late 70's, and I think it was me who discovered who Johnny was on a press release for a Johnny Curtis solo 45 where it mentions he was part of the duo. You serious about the BBC recording, where on earth did that come from???
  3. Yes, that's her...
  4. Johnny Curtis & Maggie Bell
  5. Where did you get that info from? She was with The Poppies on Epic when that record was released - different Dorothy Moore?
  6. Well it's new to me anyway...an episode of a show from April 1967 entitled "Shebang", broadcast from Hollywood and intriduced by Casey Kasem. Don't know whether this show actually went on the air but this episode I got is in phenomenal quality, full colour and brilliant sound...most of the show is taken up with the young audience dancing to Motown tracks but they have Brenda Holloway in the studio doing When I'm Gone plus an interview, and the Temptations doing My Girl...I've never seen either of these clips before. If someone would like to tell me how to do it, I'll send some of the Brenda clip up. Absolutely fantastic - but only 20 minutes long in total. p.s. if this is already known about, ignore me ok
  7. Yes you're right actually. While I do have a couple of tapes off the decks, that probably was the wrong description. What I should have said was that I've recorded with a tape recorder actually perched on top of one of the big speakers on the stage while chatting to Richard...it was never a problem
  8. It's on one of the Bristol groups albums - Portishead or Tricky - from about 1996 I think
  9. Nobody gave a toss about tape recorderes - you could even plug them into the decks if you asked nicely. I've got a couple of tapes done from the mixers in Mr M's.
  10. Bargain for someone there with the Falcons...
  11. Two of us already mentioned the black and white one....
  12. Couple more early ones here
  13. When I was thinking about putting a few tracks up, I went to get my 'Wigan tapes boxes' and there was only one there, with about 45 tapes in. That means I've lost an entire boxful. Mark I think you had copies of all mine years ago, so at least those are safe. In my garage I had a box of tapes and one was the Radio One special from 1975 where they interview people at Wigan etc, that, and loads more tapes and magazines, all got ruined when the roof leaked last year.
  14. I've got a couple of Mecca tapes and there's very little clapping...kind of weird atmosphere...on one tape there must be at least Ian Levine tailor mades
  15. I am presuming that you do know that it's John Vincent, right?
  16. Mick Smith knows a guy who recorded a load of cine-film there in 74, bloke still has it but won't part with it apparently!
  17. Plus you'd just be telling the same story. If you remove the artists from SWONS you've got the best documentary there is about the history of Northern Soul. That will do for me. Besides, apart from US, not many people want to listen to bootleg quality audio tapes, no matter what they contain.
  18. I'm glad you think so Rach, I've listened to it over and over, the noise that one girl makes sounds almost orgasmic
  19. It only survives in the hands of the likes of us my friend...
  20. Link probably doesn't work but can any of the experts tell me why this label is exactly the same as NINANDY but with the name changed? Never seen it before.. https://cgi.ebay.com/FUNK-45-GETTO-KITTY-ST...1QQcmdZViewItem

Never mind updated, let me know when the post known as "reduced" goes up and I'll be in like a shot
  22. Better make this the last clip of the night I think, this was recorded the night Archie Bell and the Drells were on, great atmosphere that night (18-6-77), this is the Four Seasons I'm Gonna Change, just posted up because of the great clapping really
  23. Here are a couple of really nice moments - well I dunno if nice is the right word... the first one is an actual tape of me falling over at Wigan in 1977. The record is John E Paul and as the chorus builds to a climax, I do a fantastic spin and go right off the edge of the dance floor and fall over an adidas bag, fortunately the tape recorder picks this up secondly is a clip of The Pointer Sisters "Send him back", it follows the dreadful Pat Williams Orchestra, now what you need to know is when this was recorded which was around April 77, Send Him Back hadn't been played in the big room for over a year...just listen to the reaction from the people picked up on the microphone. This sort of thing makes absolutely no sense to most people but it sent a huge shiver down my spine. (Ignore the fact that the tape is slightly fast, batteries were going)
  24. Here's the last ever play of Yvonne Baker...
  25. I'd love to know who plays drums on these particular Popcorn Wylie tracks: Sister Lee, Get It Baby, Hanky Panky, Say It Isnt So, Cool Off...obviously the same guy, who is this genius?
