  1. Even those prices are too high...
  2. And so it begins... (in case you wonder what that means Henrik
  3. I've got another, unissued version of this, Stewart Smith, Pye acetate - better than the other covers but still miles of RP
  4. It's right though isn't it, £15 - £20 tops, why would anyone pay £150 for something they could easily get for 10% of that price?
  5. I already opened a topic on this Joe, saying exactly the same thing, I'll try and find it.
  6. Not often me and you disagree but I think Woman Love Thief is a better song. I don't think Stemmons Express are a better group!
  7. It's one of the exceptions. Bessie Banks version sounds like an unfinished demo. Just because it's the black version doesn't make it the best.

Never mate, I've had people try it including one who said "if I bang this on it's side, the crack will go through completely", and he did bang it on the table, and it didn't crack, and I got full price for it. It's like a 'seam' in the record where the plastic has been sealed. Sort of.
  9. Just saying that they are two separate songs that have the same backing track Nev, chill out man

  11. That would be from 76 or 77 mate. Probably not as late as 78. Heart of England Soul Club.
  12. It is the same backing but not the same song! Two totally different records.
  13. Sooty, you'll see Emabassy's everywhere because this was Woolworth's own label, they covered every top 10 hit from the late 50's up until around 1965 I think. Some people actually collect full runs of these!

This is a feature on loads of styrene records, most notoriously on the MVP's Turnin' My Heartbeat Up. It's not a crack of any sort.
  15. Why, it's a completely different song...thats like saying I want Go On by Jimmy Mack, no don't get that, get Look At me by Dave Hall instead. Stemmons Express way way superior to Precisions in every way anyway.
  16. I think he got his own back on his record "Nothing you can do" which nicks The Stones "Satisfaction" riff as it's intro
  17. The Action also did a good version of Baby You Got It. Did Hey Sa Lo Ney and Land Of 1000 Dances too. Though their best record was Shadows And Reflections, I think that was a cover too, got played on the NS scene, forgot the band but it was on MGM (The Lonely Crowd?)
  18. Lets Spend The Night came out 2 years before Jimmy THomas..
  19. There's a fantastic reggae version by Derrick Harriott from the late 60's. I know that one more than the Temps.
  20. Ace Records did a superb Lou Johnson cd a couple of years ago with all of his best known stuff and some unreleased versions too
