  1. Ian did you see this news? A rare copy of the first Superman comic, dating from 1938, has sold at auction for $317,200 (£227,000).
  2. So now that I've made you tons of money are you gonna send me some

Are there any 'early' Joe Gibbs on UK Pressure Beat - don't think it started til 1970-71. I've got Sir Lord Comic - Jack Of My Trade if thats any good to you (on Jamaican as well). Also the brilliant Return Of Ezekiel by The Jupiters on Amalgamated blank, sounds like a Caltone recording.
  4. Mike, no offence but I doubt you'll get any offers on Heartbeat, it's a common record and was a minor hit in the States, are you mixing it up with Come Go With Me on the same label?
  5. There's no proof that it's Joyce Bond I don't think, I actually started that rumour when I first found it and reviewed it 20 odd years ago, because she was the only other similar British based Island artist at the time it was recorded. Tony Rounce will know.
  6. I think I've had 4 copies of that French EP over the years, the most I got for one was £250 about 7 or 8 years ago. I'd say it's worth a lot less than that now that there's not so much demand after that rubbish bootleg came out.

They weren't the ones cut in booths Nev, but the acetate that guy was selling was one that someone had cut for them.
  8. It's rare, but because that track has been reissued and booted at least twice, it wouldn't be worth much - £20 at the most. IN my opinion, of course.
  9. Very early 70's bootleg.

I won a copy of Barry St John - Everything I Touch Turns to tears UK Columbia for £14.31 from Globalmusicauctions of Hampshire. Imagine my surprise when I received an email 3 days after paying for it saying they were very sorry but the record somehow got broken and they were having to refund my money. They also said there were fairies at the bottom of their garden which I could see if I wanted to.
  11. Yes I was just waiting for some smartarse to come along and say exactly that, it took just over an hour, well done, you must be very pleased with yourself. Every one of those clips is in public domain. If I didn't collect them, you wouldn't get to see them. Why don't you spend days finding them and compiling them and then give them to everyone for free?
  12. HERE'S A NEW SET OF DVD'S I'VE PUT TOGETHER FEATURING OVER 90 RARE CLIPS OF SOUL / R&B / GIRL GROUP ARTISTS, MOST OF THESE HAVE NEVER BEEN COLLECTED AND COMPILED BEFORE AND MANY OF THOSE THAT CAME FROM YOUTUBE HAVE NOW BEEN REMOVED SO IT'S PROBABLY A GOOD JOB I ARCHIVED THEM! QUALITY VARIOUS FROM 'WATCHABLE' TO PERFECT - SOME WILL BE PIXELATED DUE TO THE ORIGINAL QUALITY SO I'D SAY THAT THEY ARE BEST WATCHED ON A SMALLER SCREEN RATHER THAN A GIANT TV...HAVING SAID THAT, I WOULDN'T HAVE INCLUDED ANYTHING THAT WASN'T WORTH INCLUDING. THIS WAS GOING TO BE A 2 DISC SET BUT I HAD TO INCLUDE THE FABULOUS LIL SOUL BROTHERS FOOTAGE SO I'VE DONE AN EXTRA DISC WITH THAT ON AND MORE RARE CLIPS. 13. I'd much rather listen to my 'Northern Soul' off a 7" vinyl record than a cd. Sod master tapes, put some surface noise on them, make them sound more authentic.
  14. Been there, still ashamed
  15. Dry Well - Gypsy - Lauren - Mint £75 inc post SOLD truly stunning copy books at £100 01902 893569 pete.smith@freeuk.com
  16. Or 50's...they had Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett and Joe Stubbs in the line up...Eddie Floyd is still alive I think
  17. I don't want to get involved in anything, honestly, especially the ins and outs of whats going on, and once again I wish you well and I think this could be one of the greatest shows ever seen in recent soul history - my point was about people coming down on Toad for asking a question thats all. Having said that, if I were to go and see one group, Little Anthony & The Imperials were always the only act I would ever have travelled to see.
  18. I don't think people should be having a go at Toad for being slightly sceptical - this is a group that many people have tried to bring over in the past and failed, all of a sudden they are coming, it's great news and I hope all goes well but there's no law about people askign questions about it.

Theres a really rubbish looking styrene bootleg with yellow label and practically no design
  20. Is it a cover...can't remember who did Help Me Girl...The Outsiders? Couldn't give you a price, if I was guessing and it was just for a late Animals demo it's be 15-20 quid I should think, but if Northern, then I dunno
  21. The thing is, back when cd's first started to get popular, being 'digitally remastered' often meant simply being put onto cd from vinyl
  22. You really need to research this before making daft claims that it's all dubbed from vinyl - for instance, their Scepter Wand compilations came from the same source that Ace used - the UK soul compilations came from (mainly) EMI as did the Liberty / UA one, and many many more.
  23. The white boot has quite thick vinyl (not styrene) and a dip towards the middle - same as Dave Newman, Anderson bros 1st press etc. They were passed off as originals - I paid £8 for it which was still a lot of money in 76
