  2. You have me at a dissadvantage sir. Unmask yourself this minute.
  3. Not too good for the old global warming though mate. Hope you are well. Best Regards, Phil.
  4. Why is it Mr. Sloft, That your posts are wider than anybody else's, and disappear off the screen. [maybe you should join them ] And, will not allow any bugger to reply to them. And do you write your own gags, I hope you don't pay for them. Tutt, what am I saying, you, pay for summat . Nah, the truth is mate, I've been trying to upload record labels for my avitar, but this is the only bloody picture that'll work. I'm going to have to ask for some help.
  5. My mate Ged Parker has a new avitar, SOUL DYNAMICS - MY LOVE IS GONE - D&W. Anybody got one. Cash / trades waiting. Thank You, Phil.
  6. Jeff, I wish I'd known about this earlier. I've just paid far more for a copy of this. This is a bargain, and for anyone that doesn't know it, go to john manships rarest of the rare and have a listen. Top tune that's gettin' attention. Phil.

My sister gave me the, This is Soul LP, when I bought a knackered dansette and fixed it up. She had moved on to prog rock, and the bloody hippy movement. She never recovered I'm ashamed to say. She still has no taste in music. Anyway I was hooked, the first LP I actually bought was the Temptations greatest hits 2. I can still remember every word, and I did, literally wear it out. [they were a bit weighty in the tone arm them dansette's] Phil.
  8. Sorry Stuart, I didn't make myself clear. I'm on about my Techmics 1210s that I use out. Not at home. I'm not interested in scratching either, just playing 45s and dancing to 'em. But with the cost of rare vinyl, I'd like to think I was looking after other peoples records, as well as my own.
  9. What a shame, I thought this was going to be a really useful and informative post. I am using Stanton 500s myself, as I was lead to believe they were ideal for playing 60s styrene & vinyl. It just seems to me, that what one person recomends as THE one to use,the next person says, is completely wrong. Very confusing, and I'm no wiser than I was before. I think there must be a misunderstanding between "best sound reproduction" and "least damage done to precious styrene/vinyl" Maybe the cart that gives fantastic sound quality, will also wear your 45s out quicker. The wear factor has to be the most important for us. I'm sure I saw some for sale that were reputed to cause zero cue burn. But if memory serves, they around £100 apiece. I'll try and find them again, and report back. I just thought, surely a gap in the market for one of the manufactures. The perfect cart for 60s & 70s styrene/vinyl [great repoduction and zero wear] could call it the utopia, or the flying pig, or does it already exist??
  10. Hi Chris, I think I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Have been told by a good mate, that the pub on the friday night [lifeline] was fantastic for sales. Where as I was in the record room on saturday. BUGGER Have sold a few on here, but if anybody else wants the list, just email me. Philsoul45@aol.com
  11. Hi Stitch, I thought that £700 was priced to sell for a minty copy. I have been offered £600 cash. Best Phil.
  12. Is that you Mr. Brown? nice to see you on here, even if you are being very cheeky. I know you struggle to get out on Saturday nights, but I've got Dickie Watt on next month again. Not to be missed mate. I've been spending huge sums of dosh [that's why I'm selling] and Cliffs been very busy vinyl wise. Gonna be fantastic.
  13. Blimey, thank god for that. I've been re reading Niel's post over and over trying to decifer it. Thought I'd lost it, what the hell are you saying Neil. Aren't you a teacher? Just to clarify an earlier point AGAIN When you are promoting an event that's trying to play "lesser known" oldies. How else can you discribe what's on offer, other than "upfront", or "real deal" and not get punters in who want to hear "VERY well known oldies". Nobody is trying to sound elitist, I don't get upset when promoters describe their events as "accross the board" or "classic oldies" On the contrary, it saves me going, and being disappointed. I was off the scene for twenty years and judging from what I've heard since I came back, I missed the best period for new discoveries. So there's lots of stuff that's new to me. But I appreciate that it's old hat to some of you. I'm with Joan and Paul S.

Hi Chalky, Heard a story at Middleton on Satuurday night. Didn't get there till late myself, but had it from a very reliable source. During Paul Sadot's spot, he had someone waving a piece of A4 paper at him, with the words "PLAY SOMETHING WE KNOW" written on it. We all know that Paul tries his utmost to find fresh tunes to play. And I for one know how much it costs in time, effort and money, to put a good spot together, and keep it fresh. No wonder so many get disalusioned and pack it in. This is the reason that I started my own night. I'm not a promoter, and I couldn't give a stuff about making money. But I love this music, and I am providing a haven for like minded soulies. Some people on here have taken offence at my discription of the music we play. But if they haven't been and experianced it, how can they make a judgement. And the most disheartening thing has been lack of support from people who say they want upfront and rare venues. At least if my efforts fail, I will have tried. Phil.

Hi Brian, I run Soul Salvation @ Burnley Cricket Club, and Paul and his friends came down very late one night, and got in with no bother. Very few locals have been down, all are welcome. Most of my regulars travel in order to hear the rare and quality music on offer. I'd love to see more locals, especially young un's. Paul's a very nice lad, we have spoken on this forum. What a shame there aren't more like him. Come down Brian, and introduce yourself, I'll be on the door. Best, Phil.
  24. Nice one Billy, pity about the intro though, would love to hear the full recording. It does sound excellent, I'm sure he must play it out, too good not to. 100 club maybe? ashamed to say I've not made it down there as yet. Phil.
  25. Hi Karen, Enjoyed talking to you at Lifeline, hope you are well. Are you going to Middleton on sat. night? Anyway, if you are will see you there. Now then this record, quite a hard one me thinks. Don't know if this will help, but Ian Cunliffe had a copy for sale, but it was a while back now, so may well have gone. Anyhow he posts on here as iancsloft, so p.m. him, you never know. Hope to see you soon. best regards, Phil.
