  1. You forgot to tell us what these 50 great records are. I presume you don't like 'Northern' then? To me that record is a masterpiece. If only I could find more of the same quality.
  2. 'I didn't know how to' was the record that everyone wanted in the early seventies Frankie. That was the era of the stomper. 'I don't know about you' actually became popular at a later date. There was a scene before the 100 club. I had them both and sold them for the going rate in 1975 which was 75p each. The guy that bought them and still has them never tires of reminding me of this fact every time I bump into him.
  3. Dam, can't hear it on iPad
  4. It's a truly stunning record, as is there other one, and it's much harder to find than the other. Demand x Rarity x Quality = Mucho £'s
  5. I could say the same of you Jock. You have belittled so many people on here with your superior attitude, and put quite a few people I know off posting.
  6. I wasn't talking about any record in particular. I am just sick of people who feel the need to post endless you tube clips. Why do people with terrible taste insist on inflicting it on everyone else. It's the same on Facebook, every bloody post has a you tube clip. You are strange and not funny at all.

Ok Awake. I have asked Tim Brown, he says it's worth around a ton. I also looked on popsike and that looks about right. The demo is another story though.

There was a thread on here about the fastest northern tunes. This should be in it. Some of us are very old now.

Collectors in other countries like Japan collect many of the same 45's as us but for the other side, this could be one reason it has disappeared. Also, there seems to be a lot of people investing their money in rare vinyl, probably due to the recession and terrible interest rates for savers. You only have to look at the value of precious metals, Antiques, Art and classic cars to see what I mean.

It is amazing how this has disappeared in recent years. I even remember quite a lot of demo's doing the rounds at one time, it now seems to be a 'holy grail' and fetches big money. I would have thought it was just too fast for today?
  11. Please! no more you tube clips, P-L-E-A-S-E !
  12. Cheers Ady.
  13. Steve you misunderstood my post. I was hoping to catch the part that mentioned the film, but the program was on from 1-4pm and was not my cup of tea. The program, not the film. I am very much looking forward to the film mate.
  14. What subject matter? Is it about the Northern Soul scene?
  15. Just tried to listen to it............lasted 10 minutes before I had to turn it off.
  16. My only recollection of this venue is this. My mate Dave Thomas persuaded me to go one night, but I can't remember the year. Anyway we hadn't a clue where it was, and we had persuaded a rich kid who had a car to take us. I seem to remember we found the club, or should I say we found the que that were waiting to get in. We lived in the sticks and were very naive, and the sight of what to us was a very scary looking crowd [i'm sure there was one guy dressed like Leo Sayer in the clown suit and full make up] had us heading back to the safety of the car and off back home. Then on another occasion I think we went again, but it had been shut down and there had been a fire? I was a right wus.
  17. Me too Brian. But I can't take the credit for finding this gem, that was Mr. Searling who played it on his old radio show.
  18. Come on lets have some that actually have a melody. This is the b*llocks.
  19. I found it, but I already knew it as Bags and Beans. Very disappointing, and quite forgettable. Maybe it sounds better played out? Obviously a rare 45 though.
  20. Thanks Karen.
  21. Typical. Finally a tune I would like to listen to and it's not on you tube.
  22. Remember Richard Searling playing this on his radio show. Blew me away. Great arrangement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AabjU4G7LSI David Porter - I Don't Know Why I Love You
  23. Last time I had a look, everything was on buy it now.
  24. Bloody awful record to my ears, so I wouldn't buy it at a tenner.
