Larry Davis riffs on You Don't Love Me, surely...

Haha! No need to apologise - a bit of bravado keeps these threads interesting. Did sound a bit like a glove hitting the floor though

While a lot of your post makes sense, that's an enormously audacious claim to make, Mik.

As in a cover of the Tina Britt song
  5. That's the one! Think I saw it when it came out but not since - really enjoyed it at the time. One of Barry Norman's recommendations if I remember correctly. Don't suppose Chance the Gardener will stick as Butch's new nickname
  6. All this reminds me of that film with Peter Sellars as a gardener who says makes simple comments about nature, the weather and seasons that are seized upon by the folks in posh society as having fantastic meaning. That's it - please carry on now...

Is it this? I'm not a popcorn expert but I think a mate once put this on a CD for me. Don't shoot the messenger by the way!

  10. Of course! You're welcome and apologies for the dreadful typing in my last post. Glasses now found (on top of head, naturally...)
  11. I got a text about the programme but turned it off after hearing Winstanley's usual tosh, hearing about the fact that Wigan happened as the Beatles ended and Punk began (What - No Brotherhood of Man then) , then swimming pools and Japanese kids shouting the names of songs By the Who and "Yes! I Like the Jam!". Bobbins. 12:09 is Bud Harper - "Wherever You Were" by the way
  12. We're well on with it. Check Freebasing.
  13. Morning. Anybody got a spare/unwanted flight case that would fit a pioneer DJM 600 mixer. Not too bothered about cosmetic appearance - I just need something in which to transport it safely. Needs to be cheap too, due to impending wedding and associated costs! Cheers Paul (Godz)
  14. Sure you could PM your address or we could start an old school hip hop topic in freebasing. That's probably the best idea so that a few other peeps on here could chuck their ideas in
  15. Are the Stateside and Pama releases the same? I'll dig mine out later to check. Either way, Pama is the one for me looks-wise: beautiful!
  16. My period of hip hop too: Stetsasonic, Main Source, Brand Nubian, UMCs - loved all that stuff. I'll sling a funk comp your way...
  17. Everything in common except politics (and possibly funk and hip hop records)
  18. Thanks for that - no, never heard it before. Not sure the Glitteresque drums add anything to be honest and I'd still go for the Crusaders but it's always interesting to hear stuff like that. I just remembered that one of the sax players from a later version of The Glitter Band (mid 80s) used to pop in a pub where i worked when he was in the area. He was a session man who had some hilarious and invariably alcohol fueled tales of life on the road.
  19. I like Gary Glitter records. I think it's shameful that Mike Leander's productions are being excised from pop history along with the work of the musicians that played on them.
  20. Bit of a soul weekend then as Tony Rounce just announced that they're showing the Muscle Shoals film on Friday too. edit - sorry it's the following Friday (7th March) at 21:00
  21. You should never had bid on that Del Larks until you'd worked quite a bit of overtime ...
  22. Don't know, I'm sorry. I do know that some copies of the later 102 are mis-credited as "Sin Guy" though!
  23. There's another, different DPG 102 - Sir Guy / Speller Bros Band - Let Home Cross Your Mind / Pt 2. It's an earlier, rawer (rarer too I think) version of I Need You Baby from 1971. 106 is Terry Sinclair - What Have you Heard / Clown Suit That one's a nice ballad c/w an R&B flip
