  1. This enough? From Hans Knots excellent Dutch site... https://www.offshoreradio.de/HansKnot/feb2006b.htm
  2. Could even have been on Radio Caroline given the Major Minor connection, certainly takes me back to my yoof! Of course, the vocal version by Peggy March was big on the scene in the late 70's - you wouldn't believe which respected modern jock melted when I played it for fun at a barbie last weekend!
  3. Wasn't that "What can I do"? Hippo.
  4. AFAIK there weren't actual demo copies for Stax UK at this time - were they stickered?
  5. Again, it's the print style on the artist and title that immediately stands out as being wrong - just imagine if someone tried that stunt at 3am at a niter in dodgy light though....
  6. You're right about the Love connection, think the lineup was pretty fluid so he may not have been in the band for that long. As for the scan, I'd never noticed the pronounced dip towards the centre - deffo kosher to me!
  7. Thanks mate, yes, technology's wonderful, can sit here doing my radio show exchanging PM's with Neil...hope all's well, even if I didn't know, I'd guess it was you from your comments about Wigan Saturdays!
  8. OH wow, I'd forgotten all about that dayer - went up early, didn't fancy hanging around Wolves all afternoon, so got straight back on the train! Can't remember much more about Monday nights either, except that for a while we went up regularly, must have been a mess after a good night at Yate!
  9. Situation normal Mickey
  10. Agreed, always underrated IMHO - the other side isn't too shabby either!
  11. Coincidence time - I played my Renee copy on GFM this morning and made reference to the two labels. Is Renee really harder as I've never seen a Marc copy?
  12. Just a bit of marketing i think - they did the same with TMG 1000 (Marvelettes/Kim Weston) and several others including (IIRC) a Supremes megamix!
  13. Makes sense, thanks for that - nice to know that the info about Diane Newby seems to be correct - amazing how a snippet of trivia gleaned at some unearthly hour in a distant galaxy (or niter) sticks in the brain
  14. I thought that it was Diane Newby, never worked out who the Johnson was though!
  15. Never made that connection Tony, think I bought it from a certain Soho stall in the early 70's, now where in my wardrobe is my copy...???
  16. Jerry Hipkiss posted a post in a topic in Record Wants
True, it was promo'd on 7"...but sorry, you're not getting mine!
  17. My brain must have been elsewhere at the time m'lud ...
  18. Come on Pete, don't tease, you know it's all still in that brain somewhere
  19. Ah! Another long-standing question answered! The fact that Mansfield was credited always made me wonder if there was a UK version, so yes, I would imagine that was the first.
  20. I know that a man of your standing will be aware , but "Piece of my heart" was reissued with the boxed logo in the 70's - with red demos as well!
  21. Sorry if I confused you Rod, I think most people refer to them as "silver top" issues...I think I know what I mean anyway! As regards when the boxed logo came in, probably late 67 or early 68 ish? Certainly remember buying Jerry O "Karate Boogaloo" with the boxed logo as a new release from HMV in Londons Oxford Street, along with Fifth Dimension "Train keep on moving" Jerry.
  22. Picked mine up a few years back for 40 from Ady Pearce, turns out it was Danny Everards old copy. Always played the instr. myself but it needs a big system to really work, I don't think the vocal was played at all when it was first discovered because of, as has been said, the "little girl" qualities!
  23. All holding onto them Marco!
