  2. Thanks for the little story behind this piece of music. Not my cup this, but good to know where it came from.
  3. Reduced & open 2 trades BTW
  4. Jimmy's version is first while Betty's cover versions are not so suited for her voice IMHO. I like Betty before and after her venture on Karen but just not there. So my vote goes strongly for Jimmy Delphs on Carla with the wonderful flip side 'I've been fooled before'.
  5. now 65 £ 75 £ FREE POST TO ALL OVER THE WORLD ! (extra 6 £ to have it signed for) payment through Paypal as 'to family or friends' gradings M, EX, VG, G PM me for inquiries Minty since was bought as NOS and played to be recorded on this mp3. Complete with it's original protective inner sleeve and spotless all the ways around. A well known tune on the Pop-Corn front and yet to have it's days at other scenes. Available only on this French EP (no Juke Box edition as far as I know). Look & listen. virginia vee.mp3
  6. Gator is rarer and never had one in hands to compare the sound quality with my Cotillon copy. In my experience some Atlantic and Co. pick-up release did suffer some remastering to produce a "muffle" or "homogenized" sound. Cliff Nobles "my love is getting stronger" didn't suffer that though.
  7. 1965 (1966 maybe) man, never 1962 !
  8. I doubt it's real just reading this; came out of the same box as the yellow vinyl copy's of the Professionals & also a yellow vinyl copy of Dutch Robinson. Then the scan/photo quality is not good enough to judge, the real ones have proper black print on the red label paper: Unlike this one here where the black print is not deep as it should be; But you can also check the matrix if you got it. Should read Capital inverted S with small c & r in the curves
  9. OK, I believe you, but I've only seen the vinyl issue to this day. Even Popsike and Google show no trace of such a pressing. That of course doesn't mean it does not exist. The only styrene copies I've seen are the promo ones.
  10. No actually, you're right. After having the confirmation that original stockers do exist and you can tell them apart I checked again. And indeed there are few real ones after closer inspection and reading on Popsike (less on Collectorsfrenzy). The first time I did browse through CF & PS I looked at it too quickly. Some are the boot and proposed as. Few are real ones and some are hard to tell apart without a better description. BTW I always loved the girly dancers amongst other things
  11. Ah, OK, good to know they are out there. And they are from the same pressing plant as those vinyl demo's using the same font as the black & red bootleg. Is there a styrene stock issue copy as the MONO promo ?
  12. Is there no original stock issues of 'send him back' found anywhere ? Some of those major label's 45 who sold poorly are found from time to time as NOS in boxes while they were thought not to exist as such before. Now, there's 3 variations for the promos from different pressing plants and yet I've never seen or heard of any stockers at all ? That should be rather exceptional for such a label as Atlantic. Maybe before their move to Blue Thumb there could have been an issue between Atlantic records and the Pointer Sisters and so the 45 marketing retail stage was simply not continued after the deal/contract was somehow "breached".
  13. Yes, you're right Dave and after some check outs, I stand corrected; '1000 wonders' (Ovide 223) is late 1967 rather than early 1968. Ovide (222) first release is often dated 1967 (studio recording sessions september 1967). And indeed 'tighten up' IS released (Ovide 228) march/april 1968 and so counting/guessing about a month between each release for such a "small" project label is setting Ovide 223 @ october/november 1967.
  14. Pink was the first color for the first 8 Ovide's releases. This one is the second 45 of the label. Then Grey and after orange and later red + blue on white. The grey for '1000 wonders' is a re-release to meet demand but it seems to be less common to come by in my book. They are both very desirable and command the same price I'd believe.
  15. Read that also but was with caution as it was not a verified info. Mike would be indeed a good source for those infos...
  16. OK, that can be. So it's not a bootleg. That overall look of it fooled me and kind of reminded me of the Soul Fox bootlegs of the Mirettes, Jackie Lee... Now, these small labels/runs are tricky to work out without "insiders" as they were short lived and involved few people who could just have done that and this. Now by reading the labels closely, it could make sense one way (or another); the Carmelita on yellow would be first, then Sy Hightower on the plum label. I'd say that since the pink SH with gold/silver label has an extra license credit; the PENCO one. This is Dennis PENA Co. who would have come in with his money to kick-off the SH Carmen record. This PENCO 45 by SH had a promo release (for air-play) and an album project in the can that never past the acetate stage (one side of it did at least). So the project could have gone for bigger thing before it went... to the ground. Or is it the other way around; Dennis PENA backed off and Carmelita's Art Invasion Co. then re-released it on the Plum label.
  17. Is this a boot ? Everything is wrong and smells like it is but I just didn't know it existed. Never looked close enough on CF or PS @ Evil Bay results and one sold for $500 in dec. '09 !? Now one on auction on the Evil Bay from a well known USA dealer but he just don't give leads about the dodgy being not a "first release"...
  18. OK Robb, and just for the info "soulfulkindamusic.net" set those dates (both at the dawn of 1966) but what is the source here ? I dunno ! 1062 — Lee Rogers — My One And Only / You Won’t Have To Wait Till Christmas - 1965 1063 — Dee Edwards — All The Way Home / Love Love Love - 1966 1064 — Buddy Lamp — Just A Little Bit Of Lovin’ / Next Best Think - 1966 & 104 - Debora Healey — Don’t Do Nothing I Wouldn’t Do / Can’t Erase My Old Love’s Face - 1965 105 - Not Released 106 - Magic Tones - Got To Get A Little Closer / Me And My Baby - 1966 107 - Cody Black - I Will Give You My Love / I Am Particular - 1966
  19. Like said above, this one was apparently released only as red labelled styrene (with extra catalogue numbering system) but never on pink labelled vinyl; Then these two had both releases;

    ... comes tears... RIP+
  21. Indeed. My guess is that those Outta Sigth reissueZzz just killed some demand for some records that are not exclusive anymore. This might be one of those. Still a double sider of upper class !!!
  22. 4 a friend who says the download quality from them is not what it used to be anymore, so would anyone have some 4 sale or a good lead where to buy some ? New or 2nd hand. Here or there. Cheers, Tim
