  1. Remember browsing through NOS USA import records here in Brussels and stumbling on dodgy looking (grubby label and hazy printings) multiple releases of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas 'heatwave' on Gordy and a Supremes on Motown (was it 'baby love') and they even sounded bad enough. Learned after (pre-internet days so information was not as easily reachable) that they were contemporary bootleg made from a Motown "insider" for the American market to cash in on the sales...
  2. Exactly so if they were press at different pressing plants the typefaces and or typography of the credits should be different as you can see with the 2 examples (and there are more examples) of the Parliaments 'good old music' and J.J. Barnes 'our love is in the pocket first on multi colored label styrene and the on pink label vinyl where the typos are different logically. It's not the case of DarrelL Banks o Revilot 201 !!!
  3. The trouble is the "photocopy" kind of label of the Darrel Banks on vinyl. If pressed at another pressing plant, the typo should change like it's the case for these by example; But both those 2 "pink" and "grey" pressed on vinyl look like they just "borrowed" the label from the styrene one... Even the "grey" vinyl variation as shown here below !
  4. Likely the same story as with the British London/Stateside releases infringement... This sole Canadian Revilot distributed by London Records release even though if it was not withdrawn was likely quickly supplented with the Quality release !
  5. Not all bootlegs aimed at the British folks on that small Island west of the European Continent. For example Americans also use to have their own contemporary bootlegs to cash in on hit records sales, not only on rare records... So Darrel Banks 'open the door...' could have suffered that fate. Many of these seem to come out of "discounted" batches with the drill cut-out holes. So likely they were in the official commercial circuit. Still not meaning that they were legit none the less. For facts, I can't say what it is exactly with this pink vinyl variation but since, at Ric-Tic they had indeed few later numbers issued both on vinyl and styrene, even switching back to the pink labels for those vinyl issues, when they had switch to the multi-colored labels by then. So they could have throw in a new release of Darrel Banks there to supply a maybe lasting demand... Only the typo on the label of the vinyl copies of Darrel Banks in this case suggest that it is a photocopy of the styrene issue...
  6. Another film about a "ME" that is not about "MYSELF" ! "I" will be jealous again... Pffff !

  8. Overall VG+/VG copy that plays great. Vinyl bares few scuffs and marks but barely affect play. 'A' side would be VG+ for the vinyl and label. 'B' side vinyl has more marks about and should be grade VG while label has WOL. As you can hear it below, it plays clean. It has the slightest low lift kinda warp once you pay attention. I haven't noticed that before now... My believe is that the record spent its "young days" sleeveless. The labels shows some wear on the inner dip edge of the labels and there's some marks (bruises) on the vinyl more than scuffs (caused by paper sleeves) and likely the record met the hand of a child armed with a pen that should explain the primitive "artistry" work on the 'B' side. King of a record in every way to play both 'in' & 'out'. I had the repress and even if slightly longer, to some interest, it didn't have the same kicking' sound as this original one. I guess that would be due to a digital mastering at one time in the process which this original edition didn't suffer. This is my "old" copy that I've upgraded. I wouldn't part with it otherwise. 9. And once you have this wonderful record home do not miss on the flip side 'come to me girl'...

They are upgraded "copycats" (but for the Tina Britt that I never really liked and always prefered the Chiffons) and definitely much more than coincidence or "common features"
  11. ...re activated destined to become a loser oldie... Misleading, confusing, maybe forthcoming but still poetic without ponctuation... LOL !

The Ambassadors with Danny Monday with the horns build-up and the Temptones and the Ringleaders for guitar 1/2 tempo riff and echoey overall groove sound but for the rest... more like a common "feature". Coincidence IMO more than "reference". One that grows on me lately is the Fabulous Peps 'love of my life' = Marvin's 'I'll be doggone'. Cliché and nonchalant but it "sticks like glue".
  13. German release as well:
  14. And the price is...
  15. First issued (7/67) on Carla as the 'A' side with the fantastic dancer 'I've been fooled before'. Then 9 months later it was re-release but as the 'B' side to 'don't sign the paper' and on Karen this time. The re-recording of Betty Lavette is somewhat not working for me and in comparison of Jimmy Delphs authenticity seems just "not true nor right". And I do truly love some of Betty early to later recordings, so I am not about dissing the lady. Like her version of 'you'll wake up wiser' works better than the original of Deon Jackson IMO for example. Still I don't really rate Betty's work with Ollie McLaughlin (but for both sides of her Atco 45) and man, I do love his production work and stable.
  16. Not a reissue. What made you wonder ?
  17. What's not love visually and musically on this one. Read the label credentials !!! And all that you read can actually be heard !!! Ray Lewis is a great artist for sure, but this double sider is out of quality proportion IMO. So don't forget to check the 'B' side with 'give my love a try'. The original to Linda Jone's later fabulous variation on Loma. Those "garagy" sessions at the Vidalia studio capturing in the crudest way the vibrant transient mood of the artists in the moment are something else. And we dig that; saturation to perfection, deep as you like and complex enough to never get bore off. Reminiscent somehow to me of the golden age of the Jamaican 'Rock Steady' soundZ from late '66 & '67. Condition of both labels and vinyl do show surface wear. But it barely affects play. So visually like a VG++ but play wise like EX. Scan picture is harsh. Looks better in the flesh ! Listen to the sound clip of both sides with needle drop and lift. 18. This copy was bought with that edge 1cm split edge crack. The crack is located at 3 O'Clock on the 'I lost a true love' side. See the scan. The split was expanding with the years and I couldn't bare to see it going to waste. So I've decided to waste the flip which is for the oddest reason on earth the real 'A' side. But not to worry it is now unplayable as I added the consolidation to keep the whole thing flat and rigid with strong glue also located at 3 O'Clock. I've even added a little glue bridge on 'I lost a true love' side to spare/save the edge trough the handling and playing. For the rest it still is a superb looking and playing VINYL copy. The visible scuff at 11 O'Clock on 'I lost a true love' side is NAP. See (high res scans) and hear (mp3) the record presented for sale and judge for yourself. danny wagner.mp3 £100 Fee Shipping anywhere in the world add £6 to have it registered Grading through M - EX - VG - G... 20. It's not the benefit of the doubt that is at stake here nor am I accusing JM of any "sacred" salesman ethic trespassing. He retracted and apologized. Good enough for me. Only I've seen so many of these sold on decades ago and I am not in shock seing this now even on his records auction "window" next to other kin. Sorry but true. Never I wanted to touch, deal or look at any of those N.S., R.A.C. or white noise records. They are an embarrassment and JM got that reminded. At the same time let's not get so politically correct at once and forget under that assumption that "hate" promoting artists are only them those fascist caricatures of themselves. Keep an Ear !
  21. Well to part one's "intention" from the "name/word" one's attribute himself and so it's "meaning" even when put in "context" is the intellectual effort that in my experience only serves to dazzle the minds. It's human history in politics that ! Pervertion and indignation, lie, disgrace, worship, sacralize, idolize, colonize... In my experience, lived in immigrant neighborhood for "ever", I can tell you racism is not relevant to the whites only nor it is some modern western culture that got depicted onto the other countries cultures... It's anqered in human culture amongst the majority of individuals in most societies since about ever or so... The Black Panther community social project that it was for the "originators" of the movement and that got shipwreck from the outside and the inside was at first intended toward "solidarity and awareness". And to me that distinguishes them from "White Power" as that has nothing but hate for all that is not white or western. And so, yes "Black Power" became more and more a scream of individualistic frustration and defiance than a statement of empowerment IMO. If not the tone would be very different I am sure of that. I always found it a bit difficult even to dance to JB's "say it loud" since you can only be proud of an achievement not of what you are...
