  1. It's a no to Craig then... I don't know if he is representative, he just has a show and interviews people... Eddie Pillar always speaks very very highly of him. Good enough for Eddie Pillar, good enough for me... not that I actually watch or listen to the BBC.
  2. Hi folks, more 7ts and crossover 45's for sale:-) --- The Masqueraders - I Ain't Gonna stop / AGP Records EX++£35 **SOLD ** Supreme group, and this track is up there, unbelievable record…condition on this one is a tad off mint, it's a spanker hense price! The Drivers - Blackbird in Despair / American International Records EX++£100 This track features Chuck Freeman, white singer I think, but it’s a killer. The flip of this isn’t soul, but it’s very good, great opening! Brown Sugar - The Game is over / I'm Going Through Changes Now / Capital EX £70 Two sides here, ‘Game is Over’ was very big in the 9ts early 2000’s, I think ‘Going through Changes’ is the bester side personally. King Floyd - I'm Gonna Fall in Love With You / Chimmeyville EX++£45 Keith Woon tip, Keith always tips the very best tracks… This is a brilliant, sweet midtempo track from 75, really catchy Lee McDonald - Gotta Get Home / Debbie WD EX stol £35 From his brilliant LP, I think this is the only 7” release from that, and it’s a killer! tad bit of crackle on the intro Leon Thomas - Love Each Other / Flying Dutchman WD Ex+ £30 Again from his LP, this was an immediate YES! Gotta have that Patti Williams – I’m Doing the Best I Can / Forward records Promo (Styrene) EX++ £150 Massive oldie from the pen of George Semper, nice demo copy here, play and label. Randy Brown - I'm Always in The Mood / Parachute Records EX++£185 I have most his LP’s, not sure I think this is 7” only release, it’s another 7ts killer. Gwen McCrae - He Keeps Something Groovy Going On / CAT EX++£12 Again from her LP, this is such a beautiful swayer of a track, even her lesser songs are brilliant, you simply can’t go wrong… Bobby Patterson - I Get My Groove from You / Paula EX++£105 **SOLD ** Original penned and sung version to Bobby Shannon, they are both very near vocally, but Bobby ‘P’s’ is best… ----- I prefer direct Bank Transfer, but you can pay by PayPal either Friends & Family or add the normal 4% fee. Postage: £4.50 for 1st Class signed for (Within the UK) anything over a ton via Special Delivery, £8.00 (Insured up to £750) within the UK. * If you are outside the UK, just tell me where and I'll quote you via PM.
  3. Hi folks, small selection of LP's hope you find something there. ---- Norman Feels - Norman Feels / Canadian Just Sunshine (Gatefold) Drill cut out, EX++ Sleeve & Play £25 **SOLD ** Man of the moment with the recent Soul Direction release of some of the unissued versions / songs. Side A Don't Till I Found You They Said It Could Not be Done Somethig In Me Side B My World is Empty Without you Yes You Did Something About You (Makes Me Love You) Everything is Going Our Way ---- Joyce Bond - Soul of Change / Windmill (Uk) (SOL) EX++ Sleeve and Play £20 Buyer pays post, pm me to confirm. Very nice Lp with loads of very good cover versions, I like her version of 'Make me Yours' as a nice edition to ZZ Hill. Don't know if the Airborne single came out before or after this lot, but there are some good songs on here. Acuually the 45 was 1966, this LP is dated 72, but the songs have to be recorded earlier I'd say. ---- San Remo Golden Strings - Hungry for Love EX++ (Sleeve and play) Ric Tic £20 Classic LP, all the hits, and in really really nice condition. ---- The Incredibles - Heart & Soul / Audio Arts VG+ (Play & Sleeve) £10 Includes, Miss Treatment, Standing Here Crying, There's Nothing Else To Say, Another Dirty Deal, All Of A Sudden and loads more, not many LP's with this many great tracks, one side slowies, one side dancers! The sleeve has got a rip at the bottom, so not the best condsition, but plays fine, bit of crackle, click here and there. ---- Sam Dees - After All / RCA £10 EX++ Classic 12 inch release, killer Sam Dees track! that a certain Richard Searling has used on his show so much... ---- Patti Labelle - Best of... EPIC EX++ £10 Includes the brilliant 'It's Alright With Me' cellophane has ripped a tad, but its in nice condition otherwise.. ---- The Choice Four - The Finger Pointers / RCA EX++ £10 Great LP, which has their brill version of 'If I Don't Love You' also done by Bobby Reed on Bell, both Van Mcoy written and produced I think.. class version this is... ---- I prefer direct Bank Transfer, but you can pay by PayPal either Friends & Family or add the normal 4% fee. Postage: £5.50 for 1st Class signed for (Within the UK) anything over a ton via Special Delivery, £8.00 (Insured up to £750) within the UK. * If you are outside the UK, just tell me where and I'll quote you via PM.
  4. Just to add a point to what I said above, is they picked the right track here, Jimmy Beaumont's original is a massive production, so 10/10. The only point I would make is that although these musicians are of the highest quality, the very highest, they never sound quite like American musicians, I always use Amy Winehouse and her B2B Album as an example, first heard that at work, and I immediately knew they were American musicians, they were of course the Dapp Kings. I don't know what it is, but it’s always that 5% difference, to our trained ears, musicians outside of the states, never sound the same... Shame the audience didn’t start clapping, I guess if they had known the track they would have. cheers Paul, nice to hear see what everybody is talking about... can I ask, is that your footage?
  5. God there are some long posts on here! I don’t know about the BBC Proms I don’t pay the licence fee, haven’t for over a decade… But if I might, I heard that ‘Keep on Talkin’ cover in Selfridges this afternoon, and sang along… it was momentary fun! but it does not compare to dropping everything at the bar to run like the wind to the dance floor to dance to your favourite record. and if I have read a few posts correctly, to compare one to the other is pointless, the proms sounds like a bit of fun, but the real fun is turning up at the door Paying your money, and walking up the stairs to the haunting sound of ‘Bud Harper’ (insert your favourite track here). thats the real deal, cold nights, drenched in drizzle and yellow street lights, en route to Wolverhampton or Stafford etc, in the car with your mates going to a venue…. Unless the bbc can offer that experience, all else, is just a bit of fun:-)
  6. I mentioned / posted a clip of Grace Bumpry in Carmen reciently, the famous performance, not a single like, or comment... I feel vindicated!

  15. Old thread, but I'm into this, as a mate sent an MP3 of it. I know it's on White Brothers records (1981), and it's said to be very rare. What can folks say about this? I dont know the label, or Solar plex as a group...? check YT, and the below link, does the released 45 on White Bros, have the radio esq, intro? surely not... You tube info here: Ultra rare modern soul 45 from Hollywood, California. The lyrics are written by Bill Williams. Could this be Bill Williams of Bilelo? Taken from Hans' mix for Sofie on NTS Radio: https://soundcloud.com/anymyl/sos-018
