i was bidding on a record the other night,the bids were up to $700,then i noticed the import charges section that read there may be a import charge on the final price,i then bailed out cos i didnt want a big unwanted surprize at the end...but this pointer is great advice...thanks andy.

i suppose on the lesser value items its not the end of the world,but then again we can all usually get most of the lower end items here in the uk,so im not sure its worth buying them from the states! also i think on the higher value and rarer items its worth sending the seller a message before bidding that you would appriciate it if the customs was kept out of it? but in the end,it puts me off buying from the states,its getting to expensive and it aint worth the 2 weeks wait for the record anymore for me.

is it illegal for a seller NOT to declare the true amount? will most sellers declare a lower amount so to avoid the buyer incurring costs? or is it just down to chance whether the record arrives, or arrives with a big bloody bill?

so does that mean anything over £36 will be subject to vat/import charge...and handling fees..etc... and is that from all states in the usa? i had a record arrive last week from the usa,i paid $150,and it arrived quickly,and there were no extra charges of any kind?

i thought this was a £50 to £80 tune,dont see many about,and not many at £15.....shows what i know...haha

i think they do...when you click on a record that is a popular tune that is say a £300 record,and it has a start bid of something close to that and showing 1 bid...i think that indicates it was a buy it now.

copy on jm's....dont know if thats the price you were thinking of?

mainly ebay!...the odd few either want partial refund,or to do some sort of deal,or just dont pay for the record at all,i get all these scenarios in approx 2 in 10.

these things are infuriating...but it really is the way it goes...just gotta wipe your mouth and get on with it! 2 in 10 sales will goe tits up im afraid! but i wouldnt bother naming and shaming unless it was real serious,this guy has just tried his luck,but to no end!

rare records are a pain in the arse,ive got some,and i worry about having so much money tied up in them,i worry about wagon loads turning up! ive also got many bottom/cheaper end records that to me are fantastic records,i find the best thing to do is just to enjoy them for what they are,because even if the market fell on its arse or boat loads turned up,the record is still the same record! but to answser the question,there needs to be 2 lists...a rarest of the rare...and a expensive of the expensive!

hi guys the b side to ' dont turn your back on me' is an instrumental called ' never in a million years' is there a vocal to this,either issued or unissued? if there isnt,what a crying shame...its a great instrumental,but would be a great vocal tune! cheers
