I did offer to play some "stompers" at the "modern night" and the Big O told me to go and spin on my head, or summat like that

He has played some most "bizarre" records Andy - "Paint it black" was also one of his "finer moments in soul" I seem to recall.....as I recoiled in horror from the hallowed Wigan dancefloor at 7.15 one Sunday morning....but we cannot mention that, as it is an instrumental.

I've just "relistened" to the Del Rays Inc again for the first time in years and "reappraised" it. Don't agree that it's "fantastic", but I do wish to "delete" it from my previous list, as it's not bad. Is this allowable?

Records That Shouldnt Have Been Played 1st Time
It's not even good disco. Do we know who is to "blame" for introducing this "abomination" to the scene?

Soul Weekenders Glastonbury Style
Well I suppose at least that music is "authentic" rather than "tailormadeformoddunsouldancing" - Goodness I am being controversial now.

I was reading in the "Evening Sub Standard" on the train home tonight that they have gotten round the noise abatement people - they're turning the speaker walls "off" at midnight and giving the dancers "headsets", so that they can dance all night without disturbing the locals. Can't see that happening on our scene somehow

Yeah I know. I saw that thread. I can of course do "side to side" music, but you have me pencilled in for one of your "Modern by Moonlight" events - do you want me to bring a "stompers set along" to that?

Not feeling inclined to open up that old "Pandoras box" about what is / isn't "Nsoul" at this time of day. Glad someone likes it though, and I bet Pete S probably does too - I just don't class it as "credible" for the rare soul scene, and I don't think I am alone. Thought it was a joke when I first heard it at "Wigan" in 1980 - my opinion has never changed on it....God I hope it's not in the process of being "revived"

Can we not dismiss all of the "Levine" productions? A couple were "reasonable covers" such as Johnny Bristol "Man up in the sky", but by and large as a genre we could largely write them off - couldn't we?

Rock rubbish - no place at a soul venue.....

Value - Any Ideas?
I don't know Taff - maybe less as a number of people do not recognise 12s as a "valid" vinyl format

Tolbert - I Got It
Ok cheers, not a million miles away and on the same train line for what it's worth.

Ian, where is "East Herts"?

Tolbert - I Got It
Can we settrle on 68-69? That way it stays within the definition of a "soul" record, which it most certainly is.
