Talc - Love It Or Loathe It?
There were a few moans the other week after the 100 Club as a result of a venue without talc. Someone always smuggles some in somehow, girls handbag maybe.. Nothing finer than shimmying about in an already recently well covered patch! These venue owners also should appreciate that our brogues etc equally require an intensive amount of cleaning after the event.

Dancing Contests - Who Needs Em?
Beg to differ with respect. If most of us couldn't dance to more than six records in a row, attending all nighters in the first place would be a bit friv. I don't see that we are though mate. Come on they're a bit of a joke now surely? Think weekenders and such maybe okay, they've got to pad it out with as much action as poss, but in general this sort of practice imo, is probably best kept short.

Ebay Rip-off Dealer Named And Shamed
Do. The 'coalition' bit of his email is why I initially thought it wasn't him on here..

X 3 'diggers' on here. Don't think Leonard is one of them though. Can't you get your money back from PayPal?

Northern In The Mainstream
Wonder what Kenny Burrell thought first time he heard his 15k sound plugging a chicken ringer zinger stinger? Agree with all you say mate. Tell me Baz, you're a young (ish) man, how did you get into it?

2, you forgot about Byrney with your hurried reading. Most of the stuff coming the other way was from that Bladeforlife bleeder, thank fekc he ain't around anymore.. ps, I did say Kaka would score first.

Northern In The Mainstream
I'd go along with that. I've been to breakfast with newcomers after their first all nighter and listened to what a great time they've had. I should say over and over again that newcomers are a good thing. My only concern was over commercialization would cheapen the scene somewhat and in turn it would cease to be special.

I haven't seen anyone saying they resent newcomers to the scene. But all the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the ns martyrs every time this topic comes up is a little tiresome. When Wigan shut a lot of people thought that was it for the northern soul scene. How many of them thought it would be good to align the scene with fast food outlets for example to spread the word and prevent it's demise. Erm, none maybe?- Northern In The Mainstream
I agree with what you say. Though in fairness that is not the point I was making. At the end of the day (imo) rare soul music is special enough that it does not need to be sold to anyone via the mainstream media. As already it's been said it's there to be discovered for those that can be bothered to discover it.- Northern In The Mainstream
And your knowledge of 'the point' is?- Northern In The Mainstream

Little dig from Little Glyn? Don't know if you read or understood any of the previous posts. There has always been an element of elitism, whether it's a good thing or a bad thing is not for me to say. However all that's needed is passion. That and a want to hear the music, by osmosis, the rest will fall into place.- Northern In The Mainstream
You have a point. - Northern In The Mainstream
