Site content reads/views/stats inflating over recent days
This is really interesting, Mike though i appreciate it's also a strain on the platform as well the knock-on to views etc. Do you have a sense of who has picked SS to bot train and why this site specifically - is it just random training / data collection and a random page hit based on its popularity/usage or would you reckon it was for more specific purposes? Cheers & thanks for the on-going work, GB

Oldies
My sister, who is 26 is into “old school” R&B and to her friends, she’s into “oldies” such as… Lauryn Hill / Erykah Badu / Gill Scott She’ll go to nights where they’re billed as such which is mad to me 🤣

Cheapie recommendations Northern/crossover
This is cheaper than a coffee and always sounds great. Same as 'running back and forth' by Edwin Starr - two classic cheapies that go down well anywhere! Jerry Butler - One night Affair

Spotify - A look at your ‘digital box’.
Hi folks, I've taken a punt and popped this topic here... please move if I'm in the wrong end of town. Spotify: Do other clubs have a Spotify account? If so, what is it - lets share them? Do Spotify accounts have to reflect the record collections of the residents / promotors or can they be more broadly curated to reflect the 'musical potential' of the venue or event in question? I ask because Spotify has a much broader reach and function when compared to Mixcloud/Soundcloud. The latter (I felt) was much more about DJ's / Collectors putting live vinyl mixes together from their own collections. There was something in the 'liveness of it' which was specifically appealing - you could hear pops and hisses, or in my case, poorly timed cueing. Because they were often live, they were durational - so I appreciated that the mix took the same time to prepare as it did to listen. It wasn't about dropping MP3's onto a timeline (though MP3 mixes were also available on these platforms) but for the record collecting community I felt it was also very much about the craft and effort of the output. You got a sense of who had which records, what was possibly current or in vogue and you appreciated the skill of selecting and sequencing... like a live set. Spotify doesn't offer this, but i still think it's great! I've set up a Home Run Soul Club account which is here: 👉 Spotify – Home Run Soul Club 👈 I hope you enjoy, and I look forward to your reflections and views. Gaz
