  1. Anything on Thelma but particularly Joe Matthews - She's My Beauty Queen (which took me ages to get) Another fave is The Arabians - Please Take A Chance on Me - for which I will be eternally grateful to Adey Potts; as he traded it to me when I first started collecting for most of what I thought was a rubbish sales box. He described it as a perfect record - no messy bits anywhere - true! Cheers Paul
  2. Craig Moerer has a Philharmonics on ebay at the mo [here] - but it isn't exactly cheap
  3. Dunno if this is what you're looking for: Marvelle and the Blue Match - Mellow Man/The Dance Called The Motion - Dynamic Sound 2001 - on ebay [here]

3 on ebay [here] - 2 US promos and a UK London promo
  6. Got one of those little brown packages the other day and found that the sender had used as stiffeners to protect the record ..... ..... 2 other records! How exactly do two fragile things protect another fragile thing? Also, what am I supposed to do with an Olivia Newton John record? It was in an RCA stock bag so I might keep that, but I have great difficulty throwing records away.
  7. There's a 29th - Hytones/George Jackson on ebay [here] - couple of days to go and £25

    James Shorter on ebay [here]
  9. Posties breaking stuff is the worst! At least if you do it yourself you know who to blame. I still remember the sick feeling I got seeing the large boot print on the outside of one brown packet. Inside a mint Billy Kennedy - Sweet Things on Thema with a one inch mess of cracks on the run in. It still plays after two clicks on the run in and I got most of my money back as it had been sent special delivery and packed well, but it is still a sad sight. Played it yesterday and it still wrankles. Cheers Paul
  10. Silly prices One just went for $78 on ebay [here] - tightwad that I am I got outbid by $1

If you're still after this there is one on ebay [here]
  12. Ebay publish end prices, most auction houses also show achieved prices against catalogue numbers on their web sites after the event (or will provide you with lists) Have a look at Christie's or Sotheby's. They do this so that people can see that they achieve good prices and so place their items with them. It is good publicity. I thought the attraction of JM's auctions to sellers was the high prices he achieves, and also the relative transparency of his auctions when compared to others . So if nobody knows the end prices nobody will know what price the records are making, after a while it will become hearsay that he achieves good prices. Quite often a record price is altered significantly after one of his auctions (Satisfactions?) but if this info isn't in the public domain it won't have that effect. So a good thing for a buyer like me John Manship - keeping record prices lower ! Keep those prices private! Anyway, I won't be subscribing, particularly not just find out what some people are paying for other people's records. Maybe we could club together for a soul-source subscription and then just publish stuff on here anyway? Cheers Paul
  13. Two on ebay [here]

It's pay per view now Warren. Like the boxing on Sky; no one will watch or care any more.
  23. Warming up for These Old Shoes (before anyone came in ) many moons ago, I played my Dena Barnes boot (I was annoying Jo again). Matt Jahans (where is he now? love to say hello again) came rushing over to find out what it was, said it was the best record he had ever heard. Very refreshing. How much would you pay to be in that position again? Cheers Paul

    No, he's Billy Google
  25. Give em a call, they are nice people too. Their polypropylene cases are particularly good. I used to resell their cases as they gave me quite a good deal, they used to make them and post them out to customers for me too. When I asked to start up again recently they seemed a bit reluctant and gave me a lead time of about 4 weeks (!) saying they only make them to order. I think they aim at custom built cases these days. Don't think their marketing is very good or that they realise the demand. Cheers Paul
