  1. Moving to All About The Soul. Feel that more suited there (and other more general ebay, postage type topics) as not specific records or labels type topics
  2. Just buy Kell's Loma release You can't Outsmart A Woman, not quite as good but has the same backing. Still think 3.5k for such a good and rare record is cheap. when compared to some sales of records no where near as rare.
  3. I've even seen the mod art up at around £70 because people badly want it. I agree with you though £40 for Mod Art. I saw a Scorpion one at three figures a while back, bit over priced me thinks.
  4. flirtations - change my darkness into light - josie 956
  5. New Sounds is quite in-demand and I've seen it around the £70 mark. Ella Woods 3-400 quid, fantastic record.
  6. Flirtations - Change My Darkness Into Light
  7. Butch covered it as R&T.
  8. Andy covered his as the Shalimars.
  9. dunno, who sold it?& how much did it go for?
  10. The Rita & Tiaras/Belita Woods all turned up in a relative short space of time and the DJ's paid good money for them so I can kinda see why they wanted it to remain covered up, get some play out of it before everyone knew what it was and then went looking although it still hasn't turned up. John Parker I think had a copy as well.
  11. The girls spoil the record for me.
  12. There was about 7 I think off top of my head, all bar one came via Andy. Andy then Butch, Sam, Mick, Kitch, (Steve G who's I think was the odd one of the bunch)....don't remember Ginger getting one? It stayed covered up as it was still a recent discovery with plenty of mileage in it.
  13. looks another great show Bob, will download over the weekend and listen. Have you looked into the iTunes thingy yet? It would be there waiting for me if you did It's pretty easy, must be as I did it.
  14. Nice bit of info It was me who posted Free At Last in refosoul and I did ask at the time who James Barnes was, if it was JJ Barnes. james barnes - free at last - golden hit
  15. I understand it's your opinion Adam, if we all had same opinion it would be boring and have nowt to talk about I wouldn't quite go as far as ego driven, I've currently one or two and it is certainly not because of any ego. I would love to have a bevvy with you at Yarmouth unfortunately can't make it, haven't been able to for last 3 years, next year hopefully, have a good one
  16. His next newie was always something to look forward to, not just to listen to but to find out what he'd come up with for a name next

I'm trying to find someone to bother...honest When I first knew the record it was NS or simply Soul.
  18. The reason I asked is as Marc says it is on the Soulboy soundtrack. As this was compiled by some who were around at the time and is sup[posed to represent the earlier days of the scene then I assume it was known back then.
  19. I know some used to take a clue from the label, credits, where the label came from etc and then go from there when it came to making a name up.
  20. A ridiculous analogy IMO Adam. How can you compare a practice that has gone on for 40 or 50 years on various dance scenes with reading a book? DJ's put a lot of time, money and effort into finding rare records to keep this scene alive and fresh, why should they not enjoy a bit of exclusivity from their efforts. It's not like the artist is going to gain by keeping it uncovered, they will make no money out of it.

Heavenly is on one of the Dave Hamilton cds Kent put out. As for "My Sweet Baby" how is it not Northern Soul? It's been played at countless Northern Soul venues for years
  22. Guy's cover up names take some beating. Often a clue in the name as well.
  23. Hank Hodge was Lancaster Johnson if memory swerves me correctly, or something like.
  24. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Dave, can we knock the terrace talk on the head, Mike asked you to stop and take your grievance with Eastbank Bootboy to PM's or emails, not on here. Whilst we are at it can we get back to the topic of SOUL Scene villains, not football terrace villains or hooligans. Couldn't care less what folk got up to on a Saturday afternoon, we are more concerned what folk got up to on a Saturday night at an all-nighter. Anymore football and will close the topic, stop spoiling it for others please.
  25. Agree with the others it has been around years. Was it played at Wigan?
