  1. Martin Koppel (and JA I think) left loads of stock in a foot or two of water in Lou Beaty's basement, many with no labels cause of the water. Wonder how many Lester Tipton's and Al Williams there was with no lables.
  2. Has anyone made a list of all the tracks mentioned (Russ ) so we don't have to keep going back over the pages maybe then we can whittle it down.
  3. As good as Gamblers Blues is it has suffered because of it's rarity and the fact that unless you hear Ady or JT out you won't hear it, there's many others just like this too. Unless they are played everywhere by several DJ's the chances of breaking a record these days are minimal. Unless of course it's just real good and gets people talking as in the case of the Parliaments in recent times.
  4. Jo Jama I would agree with you is something of a classic now, accepted at practically every club it's played. Kings Go Forth, good yes but not gonna say what I think as this topic not about that. Yes standing the test of time is part of what it takes to become a classic, but it also has to be good. Some of those mentioned don't IMO come into that catagory. Some haven't been played since they were first covered up 15/20 years ago, others just not good enough. Hardly warrants them being called a post Stafford classic just cause they were played in that time span do they.
  5. Think the same could be said about quite a few of the tracks mentioned on this topic. Many far from classics.
  6. I agree would be interesting to see what his sets do and could consist of. I'm all for new young blood but not just for the sake of it, they have to have something to offer the scene other than just being a young 'un. Sometimes it can come across as an advertising gimmick, though I'm sure that's not the case here. Sometimes, in all areas of life, we are too quick to get rid of the "old uns" when just being young isn't a good enough substitute. Anyway some playlist would be nice and best of luck to him.
  7. Demanding Man was played possibly mid to late 80's (not 100% sure of date) by Steve Smith. Think he said he paid a tenner for it. Sure he'll confirm if he reads this.
  8. Mentioned Kurt Harris Ady and was told Stafford for Ady Pountain and Keith Minshull.
  9. Anyone who wanted to run a regular large venue, in the middle of the country more or less, this is the place. Main hall around 700 and upstairs 400. Another room for about 150 and another room for chillin or whatever. I don't know anywhere better to be honest. Back in Chesterfield on Tuesday, might pop in and see how they feel about an all-nighter again. Hope you've compiled the definitive list of all these post Stafford tracks Russ

  12. I picked Gilly up last night and took him to Lifeline, you were missed pal, hopefully you can make it next time. Think Gilly has forgotten more about Detroit than most will ever know, some great stories to tell.
  13. Couple of others from that time, probably earlier too, Patti Austin - You'll Always Be In Style and Mary Hunt on Soul Mate, Jimmy Wensioras Alice Clark cover up.
  14. Yeah it was the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield. Best venue I've ever been to.

nice, still the odd bargain or three Tony, but ebay not what it was, people not bothering as much,. some not at all and ebay themselves not helping. As I said, those prices you paid just prove ebay not a true barometer of current prices/values.
  20. dunno if this been mentioned.. Soul Inc - My Proposal - Coconut Grove
