  1. playing devils advocate......there's countless established northern tracks that are messy and all over the place, strange and disjointed.....often the appeal is they aren't perfect. I wouldn't say the Mustangs is all over the place, it sounds pretty consistent to me.
  2. I personally think there are enough uptempo and mid to uptempo dancers to sustain a nighter (and to vary a set) without resorting to mid tempo plodders and 70's crossover no one can dance to, which as good as they may be, serve no purpose other than to satisfy the anoraks and chin strokers who have non intention of dancing and to bring everyone else down!! What I'm basically saying is the mid tempo and lounge music served up by some dj's and some venues have the same effect on the dancefloor as the so called shite uptempo/dasncers as some of you call it. All-nighters, well soul nights of any kind, are about the dancefloor and the dancers at the end of the day. The record that started this topic might be totally different at minue 2 or even 4. And to say it ain't northern well many records I hear when out I wouldn't call northern but it's all down to individual taste. Also the above record apparently filled the floor at the last Lifeline so I'm told, wasn't there to witness as I'd been busy falling of trailers at work The dancefloor rules
  3. one went the night before for $655
  4. well I'm all for hearing uptempo records at all-nighters, not the plodders and crossover no one dances to you hear at some venues come 4am and therefore sending everyone either to sleep bored or home!!! There's plenty of uptempo and dancers without having to resort to lounge music. Known about this record and heard it, and the other side some time ago.

Butch has been spinning this for years, Carl Fortnum also. Wasn't until Andy Dyson turned a copy up that it gained much wider recognition. Quite a few have been in contact with guy who did backing/produced etc, one or two long ago Probably half a dozen known copies now. The record is simply awesome, in my top two all time!!!!

came out twice Kev, one with a fab flip. Played both sides out in years gone by Don't have a copy anymore so can't go and listen to answer your question really.
  9. Great service Mr Flynster arrived as I was leaving the house earlier and will be listening when I fire up the BBQ a little later Cheers pal!!
  10. was massive in the mid 80's for Keb then later Rob Marriott when it was only known via a studio acetate with no artist credits (played as the Fabulous Impacts). Wasn't till some years later that an actual issue surfaced. Great taste as usual Flanny

when he first saw a copy of Cheating Kind he wasn't even aware it had been released let alone it's rarity. He was amazed when he found out how much it cost!

Hi Sid hope you are well. realistic value???? as said no real demand from the scene just collectors, both tracks are available on other labels as well. The previous copy I saw for sale again on ebay was $101 I think. Here's a scan of the demo, came from Ady Potts.... anyone got a scan of the issue?

The Cenco relase has just gone through e-bay for $41, I forgot to bid Many of Kell's releases released on several labels, mainly down to Billy Revis. Cenco as far as I know the first i think off the top of my head 1962 with the Revis one a year later in '63. The top side on the Revis one, Yaya Yaya, was also released a few more times, more notably on the ultra rare Highland release only it was titled Trouble, Trouble Baby (the other side is of course Law Against A Heartbreaker). The Revis release I got for a few dollars off e-bay and have seen it about cheaper than £75. I'm still looking for the Cenco release if anyone wishes to sell me one As far as I'm aware no demand for the scene except amongst collectors. Oh, and i've written the Kell Osborne Story for the next issue of Shades Of Soul, dunno when it will be out.
  16. there's some in refosoul Shep. Got 'em all on tape but not on the PC, no much use to you I know

  24. it's up for sale via auction, list or forum often enough. Many of the so called rare big ticket numbers appear more often than some fifty quidders
