there was one in January on e-bay for $238. One on Sparton couple months previous $178. Another middle of last year for £155. £300 a bit much IMHO

    it should be about £150.
  5. probably agree with you James. Think those who once had an interest in Norhtern and that interest has saince been rekindled due to t'internet have returned. I'd go as far as to say there is a dwindling of interest at many venues as well.
  6. Turned onto Northern Where else do these 400 students go? probably no where, hardly the future of the scene
  7. There is a good counterfiet. The matrix though is scratched in rather than stamped. I'll give you John Manships explanation..... Bootleg label, wishy washy in design, think he means the colour isn't has far more depth on the original. On the counterfeit there is no matrix stamp only A-23116 sp very lightly scratched in the dead wax. Original matrix reads a-23115-2 AT matrix stamp which is a C R within the curves of a large S.
  8. £200 on one well known dealers list for a demo.

  16. Sandi Golden part of the Sweets wasn't she....
  17. I think younger dancers are far more important, something we are never going to get in the numbers to sustain this scene for another 40 odd years
  18. King George - So Long Johnny - RCA King_George___So_Long_Johnny___RCA.mp3
  19. I agree 110% about the comment above, age doesn't matter as long as the DJ does the business Bored! you need to get a proper job
  20. I agree with you about our friends in Europe, have said it myself in the past but we are in the UK and it will never be like Europe, well maybe in a few years we will have smaller crowds and can throw in all genres to everyones (well mosts) approval but that will take years and by then the scene will be so small it won't be worth bothering with and most of us will be too old to give a f*ck anymore Neither wil the city centre veniues be the saviour. The clubbers will drift away as they get older, they don't care about the music like we did and indeed still do. They just want a good time, something they will get anywhere. The nighter scene is what the scene is all about and nthat is slowly dwindliong. once that is gone most folk won't travel far at all.
  21. I wouldn't tell anyone what to play but what is the point of another, even if he or she is younger, DJ playing played out established sounds, none at all IMO. I also said what happens when a family or career dictates their life, will they still be part of this scene, travelling up and down the country? I doubt it very much, and if that is the case then they aren't important to the future of the scene, the scene needs soulies who will be in it for the long term, not just a few years. I didn't put you in any bracket, never really thought of anyone in particular to be honest.
  22. I'm not saying that at all Winston, my point is the younger DJ's aren't going to play anything that is or has already been played by older more experienced DJ's, more often than not any new record that isn't in the hands of the top djs has more than likely been rejected by these as not good enough. These more experienced DJ's also have most of the contacts on the scene, that is not something that happens over night either and they are highly unlilkely to share these contacts. All I'm saying is why swap like for like, something different is what is need not some youngster playing oldies. I also wouldn't tell anyone what to play, I would book a DJ on his/her ability and what is in their play box and there ain't that many young ones out there right now who can move the older ones at the top of the tree out of the way, in fact there ain't any IMHO to nudge the likes of Butch, Andy Dyson, Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn etc out of the way. No disrespect to anyone intended with that comment but that is how I see the state of the scene right now.

don't think I'd book a dj if I'd never heard them play a set anywhere.
  24. Any new or younger DJ has to , IMHO be seen to offer something different and preferably new. If they went down the oldies path, or a set of known records you might as well stick with the tried and trusted dj's some are keen to cast to one side
  25. They are the scenes future IF they are going to be there in the future. What happens if a career gets in the way or when/if they have kids? Like I said before it's what a Dj has to offer not his or her age.
