Brilliant wit! talent like yours is so hard to find nowadays...good luck int pubs n clubs! As for IZZY, Netherlands! Well, im going to take her opinion on the scene HERE very seriously then. I guess she must visit here a lot...loving the music SO much and all? So what events have you been to Isabel? Forgive me if i dont take your opinion about a film purporting to be dealing with a socio/historical period in UK soul scene history too seroiusly. Were you living in the UK then, were you on the scene at all, to be able to give ANY INFORMED opinion on the subject? Enlighten us please? Or do you just talk in wishy washy IPSO CRAPTO vagueries by saying its just a film? I actually think you are quite arrogant Isabel to presume to comment on the film at all...you have no reference to compare its accuracy and content to....You dont even contribute your presence to the country or music scene the film portrays...what a joker... I dont comment on films portraying the Netherlands, because i know f--k all about it...a bit like you and this film. Enjoy your arm chair music.

We are actually discussing a film that on its outset, purported to be a story set around Wigan casino and the Northern Soul scene (a socio/historical setting). You dont expect to see a film about Cromwell with the guys wearing 2nd world war helmets?? So the setting and accuracy, once you decide to SELL IT based on that, has to live up to its promise. Other films get cut down for inaccuracy? So why do you not care when our soul history is mis represented? Subject enough for you Issy. So where do you go out to support this music you love so much? You have ignored the question? Or you hiding something. Or are you an armchair soulie with opinions but no contribution to the ACTUALITY?

Enlighten us. Joey, who are all these "people" who think im a liar...?

For f--ks sake, what part of i have read the script and seen the trailer do YOU not understand. I know your obviously a bit dim..BUT you see film trailers are an industry standard (an industry i AM involved in) to get people to see a film...its meant to excite you into seeing it. So, whether you like it or not Joey the lip, i made my decision based on the crap trailer. It made me not want to see it. NOW..If you want to call me a liar and suggest i lie about stuff on here, you need to be careful mate and step up to the plate, or just quieten yourself. Better still say it to me when im out...best Paul

KNOCK away...all i did was a play on my ACTUAL EXPERIENCE of going, so it cant really be disputed...it happened! First time on film...maybe YOU need to know your fil history? There was a tv film made in the late 70's!! NORTHERN SOUL is not a term i use anymore as it has been embarrisingly strangled to death by a bunch of old farts who want to see themselves on crap film and by venues battering out the same tunes year after year ...Northern Soul is now a homogenized You obviously NEED a film to prove you were/are into it. Im too into SOUL to let a piece of innaccurate celluloid, done by a bunch of ill informed media types who dont give a f---k about socio/historical accuarcy, or US, pass by without criticism. A lot of the 'its only a film ', 'your jealous' arguments on here are so feeble, empty, desperate! Its as if you have given up on NOW and have such a sad existence you need a film to remind you that you once had some zest and passion! As i said before, i COULD make loads if a dvd of the play was released...it wont be! It was a live experience , like a nighter. So KNOCK away my friend. I hope IPSOCRAPTO are paying you well.

Jesus christ its almost as if you desperate weekend soulies are blind! I have read the script and seen the trailer...its crap. Just because you haven't dont put you naieve optimism and lack of integrity on me...best Paul I put that on the cd (you obviously didnt see the play) and said, If Toni & Showman had been discovered it would have been played at Wigan. So dont quote out of context. As people who know me will tell you, even with the play i wanted to show i have ALWAYS moved on with music and that track WASNT IN THE PLAY, but was on cd to show the scene needs to ALWAYS move and discover exciting tunes. I had and have a special dispensation on authenticity cos i went continually and not cos i saw FOOTSEE on tv. YOU? If you tell me which tracks and which scenes were wrong when you saw it, ill be happy to answer your questions.

You seem to think that this is my preoccupation. I have far to busy a life to really give a toss. BUT i believe in calling a turd a turd and this film is a turd...peace!

My My, do you know the worst thing about SS sometimes is the growing "hey man live and let live" attitude to ANYTHING, good or bad thats done. My friend just because YOU let everything go and dont give a f--k, have run out of zest or care for anything, doesnt mean that i have . SO, "let it go mate", some people still do care...let them. You can still put your feet up and endorse every Northern Soul product, dont worry...enjoy your dotage! The fact that the actors (some) have distanced themselves from it, is a very good indicator of its quality. You see, thats what THEY do for a living and therefore, like any job you do alot, they are pretty good judges of its quality.

It will be of significantly vast importance? What a load of absolute tosh. So ANY film good or bad is a reference for the inspiration of future generations? I can only assume IPSO facto have hired you as some sort of evangalistic press officer or is this a wind up? Nice one if it is mate! Im pmsl On that basis the crap TV film that came out in the 70s was of significantly vast importance? Even though it was a pile of innacurate crap and ALL on the scene distanced themselves from it for fear of being mis represented and associated with it. Your advocating that the fact that it was done, was an inspiration ? YOU may have had no taste or feel a film has to be tacky (see trailer for reference) to sell, but many films have managed to avoid this and represent accuuurately a period of history. Whilst i know your 'Carry On Up The Casino' approach will probably be popular, it makes me cringe. 'It Wont Get Better Than This'? Very bold statement...SO no one else will make a better film about it?mmmmm? I dont think so...

AS i said, i went, and the play was based on MY experience (first hand) of those years. It was done as a one off, bUT took off. THE film (By shimy Marcus) is a pile of crap. As i said in other posts, it was originally a script that had nothing to do with the soul scene and then they saw a band wagon to jump on and did so. and squeezed the script into a WIgan film! Ive seen the script and the trailer (which is absolutely terrible)) so i dont need to reserve my judgement. A trailer is designed to show the best moments of a film to excite and intrigue you to go! So if thats it then really...its crap! But im sure loads of the people who went to Wigan for a week or two in the 70s will love it! There parents or them were nowt to do with Northern soul, you assume i comment without any background knowledge ot the film, but, as i said ive known about it, read it, years ago...! Even some of the actors in it are embarassed that they did it!
