You wouldn't know them would you.. You haven't been out for years and you haven't been a part of this scene since you declared it was dead in the early 80's and moved on to create ALL that pop sh--te......poor old has been Its definitely your 'weakspot'. You see this thread is neccessary because unless YOU and your cronies (one of whom felt it neccessary to send James a threat on facebook! Dickhead!) remind us of your so called contribution, we ALL forget and thats because we dont give a f--k. Its irrelevent. While you were declaring the scene dead and popping out crap records, the rest of us were continuing and developing the scene WE HAVE ALWAYS LOVED. You 'pop' up every now and again on here when you smell an easy dollar and expect me to show you respect. Well, you dont deserve it mate. As, I said your an opportunist and NOTHING to do with 'soul'. You may be something to do with vinyl, im not arguing that. BUT, although wide in girth, your shallow in 'soul' and that is a FACT. You even have to ask someone elses opinion (smithy) of whether a record is good because you dont know it. Lets hope he gets out enough or your truly f--ked for opinions! How about getting out to hear whats going on yourself.Sad! Tell the threatening fool to feel free to use my facebook....- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
Whether Columbus discovered much is very much open question. He thought he was in Japan for a start & didn't actually reach the continent. That accolade goes to John Cabot, an Italian navigator sponsored by Henry VII. As far as it being fecked up, Costa Rica, Chile & Argentina are very nice places indeed. Now thats a proper thread, Ive learnt something of socio/historic importance. Unlike the previous drivel. Thanks Macca- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
Theres a difference here, do you mean discovered, as in a warehouse, or broken, as in consistently persevered with for a few years until people get around to listening. I remember Levine throwing things on the deck in a thirst to be the FIRST!(he had the money to!) But, I remember more the people who actually stuck with and broke records onto the scene. I 'listened' to Mecca stuff, dont now! So you can feel as dubious as you want mate! Wasn't aware that Levine was the only one playing new stuff there? Were there not other dj's of any note? Its like saying Winstanley was responsible for ALL the wigan tunes. THATS DUBIOUS?! If you want tunes ive stuck with and helped break or remind people of, heres a few. I would never say I discovered anything, as there is always someone who heard it before you. Only the Ian 'Ravine' would make such claims. Jonathon Capree - Gonna Build Me A Mountain Sitty & James - (covered as Gwen & Ray) Frontiersman of the galaxy - James Monroe Ghetto Love - Bethea the Maskman Early Clover & the Georgia Soul Drifters - Think It Over Kool Blues - Can We Try Love Paul Burton - So Very Hard To Make It Soul Injection - Stay Of The Moon Leonard Adair - That Smile Upon Your Face Little Sampson - Dont Take Your Love From me Unless you play tunes out and about, believe in them and dance to them, it matters not a f--k who discovered it. Columbus discovered lots of stuff and now its ALL f--ked up.- Value Please

Pete, Leveine came on here slagging people off, including one off the most honest and soulful people on this scene (because she had nailed the film for what it is!) So forgive me if I decide to give the clown some of his own medicine....'Souled Out' have odviously engaged him to make a comeback on their behalf. They obviously thought he was a part of the scene. BUT he is not...hes a relic, crumbling and in need of repair! Sorry, but thats how it is. This thread is a pile of self promoting, backward, halcion day, trite, conceited drivel! Lets move on and lets move on without this dead weight dragging our soulful feet through his muddy past. He hasnt discovered F--k all that I listen too, so hearing him bang on about the good old days is just toooooooo boring. As I said earlier, the discovery of a record doesnt justify a mans existence on the scene! Its their contribution to the week in week out effort of going out and socialising, dancing, adding to the atmosphere of the events, without which dj's wouldn't exist, that marks their humanity and 'soul'. This self congratulating fool only seems to suck the atmosphere from the scene and certainly shows no visible signs of humanity or soul. If you dont see the connection between a person and the music and the need to comment on both, when faced with such outrageous self promotion, then you should at least allow the ones that do, to comment. I certainly see the connection.- Nu-rons & Co - Can't Do Enough - Stage Art
Is B side Disco Hustle?- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
....still amazed this thread is going. The scene needs to move on a bit not dwell on an old has-been (never was in my eyes!) who delivered some of the worst, vacuous, badly produced rubbish known to man! He seems to avoid any question that doesn't massage his ego..(James asked pertinent questions, but got no answers?). Im sick to death of hearing from people who once were on the scene and then bang on about HOW it was and how great they WERE. I dont see Levine out and about, at venues, supporting the scene, adding to the atmosphere, dancing, chatting, sharing some 'soul' time. Things have changed and moved on and will keep doing so and unless you are out there experiencing it moment by moment, doing the miles and getting to venues, please just shut up. You are irrelevent to the PRESENT experience. YES, I know my history and realise the people who contributed to where we are now (between a rock and a hard place! ). I, as a punter and collector am one of them! As is every other punter. But. as I said earlier, I have never liked Mr L's giant ego and have never liked his taste in music much either. The discovery of a few or even many, records, is not justification enough for his unctuous, self centred ramblings. He is the scenes equivilent of Jimmy Saville and now he is after his Knighthood....- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
Wow, what a prissy little boy Mr L still is. Cant tell if hes drunk or just plain illiterate?! A bit like the child that spat the Dummy. Only just read all this crap. So, obviously, I guess, The giant 'Bun' has a financial interest in the film so aptly named after his soul career! Pity I cant say hes a 'shadow' of his former self, as he seems to still be eclipsing people with his size rather than his intellect...The guy has ALWAYS represented everything false, desperate and manipulating about this scene and as we can read, he still follows that path. "OOOH you little bitch"..... I hear him say (backed by a syndrum and a vocoder, obviously! . ) Mr L has only ever consumed the scene, like food to a binge eater, never really tasting or appreciating it! Now hes being offered another slice of pie by a film company...yum, yum. Spoilt little rich kids are few and far between on this scene, apart from this egotistical Beluga, thank god. Too soulful to have ever bothered with you Ian, but you are such a rude fool, I felt bound to comment. No doubt, you will pace around (as best you can...), getting a bitchy reply together, so at least i have contributed to your exercise programme! PAUL-S- Help
- Souled Out The Film
People as you are aware, are very passionate regarding the music and artists, and I think you have, hopefully, answered their questions honestly. Bit naieve!! The movie business is NEVER honest....it has one objective. To spend as little money as possible in order to make as much money as possible. Im sure the actors are being paid? Or the extras could, as a group, be put on a points system (well known in film business), say 3% and then if the film makes money, they at least get something for their hard work...as it is they are getting a big fat NOTHING! Even 1%? How about it IPSO?- Northern Soul's New Blood
No, I just grew up! The music I like now makes me dance and listen in a different way..... and I try to respond to that. I still teach Capoeira (have done for 20 years), I leave the flips and acro for that. Think it looks shite as people get older! Nowadays, I cant tell if someone has slipped, pulled something or their doing floorwork But , each to his own.....- Northern Soul's New Blood

ANYONE know or had dealings with an AMERICAN called GEORGE from CA? goes as sonsof$oul ? Seems to have my money and the record and stopped communicating!? any help appreciated....- Souled Out The Film
sadly, thats very true....EEEEEEEGos!!- Souled Out The Film
No they are NOT paying them Paul. This is on their advert - and I quote: "Please note, there are no fees for extras or dancers. We will make a contribution to your travel." Taking the p-ss , I feel. WHY would you want to go and be an extra in this, if your just a fuzzed out blob in the distant background. Why dont they put on a nighter, pay EVERYONE who comes a fee (say £80, the going rate for extras) and film that? They want soulies to turn up gratis and supply a crowd and an atmosphere for NOWT! Seems like exploitation. .....blacksploitation....soulsploitation..... take your, sploitation, pick.- Souled Out The Film
Wow, just watched the part one film site interviews! Jeff, the writer, says Winstanleys book is Factual! Russ, didn't have a clue what went on on the dance floor, in the toilets, outside, in the car etc and thats reflected in his book! So if they are basing it on those facts were in for a stinker! Also, and I dont mean to be rude, the male actors seem a little camp to be portraying the people I knew at that time...apprentices, miners, builders etc. But then, i guess thats why they are actors eh! The director seems to think the 'This England Documentary' has amazing dancers on it! I hope he has some other references or the standard of dancing will be way off what it truly was!- Souled Out The Film
ARE YOU PAYING THEM? if they are being used just to make up numbers and their faces dont feature, WHY woulfd they want to do it? No money, no exposure? Whats the incentive? You can hire extras from one of the agencies surely?- Souled Out The Film
Lee and ALL the actors went to loads of soul events aswell as dancing solidly for at least 3/4 hours a day in the 6 week rehearsals and doing intensive stretching! They immersed themselves in it for the whole time they were on tour, even going out to events while touring! Im involved in other stuff at the moment, that involves directing and choreography.....and a methodology! - Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
