  1. The Plymouth crew travel weekly/fortnightly to events all around the country, Its always been this way right from the very early days, My sister and a freind thumbed a lift from Plymouth to the casino ( something you wouldn't want to do these days ) Coaches, hire cars, and mini buses, only having old cars ourselves in those days they wouldn't make it ! Many funny memories of break downs come to mind. Tony and i live in Looe cornwall and still travel, but not as much as we used to, Blackpool would probably be the furthest we have travelled, although i did go to Stirling once for a soul night !! This saturday we are going across country to Bournmouth. No Myth here, we have done the miles
  2. yes Billy for me to i love his 'summertime' and 'ole man river'

  6. lets be really radicle then... Ban chin strokers, and charge per record danced to... seriously , we get odd requests at times, ie'' we can't stay long, so how much will that be ?'' '' I can only come thursday between 8pm and 12pm is there a discount''? blah blah blah !! Kinda drives me mad where else can you go and ask for discount if you leave early.....Cinema?...a show..?.can't think of any to be honest
  7. As the promoters out there know, some difficult questions can be asked of you One of the requests, is for discounts from people not staying all night, or all weekend, so ive come up with an idea so we can accomodate these people PAY AS U USE £1 an hour thurs fri and sun £2 an hour saturday each person given a wrist band with a number, then when your number is called your time is up !! Top ups available at the pay desk Or maybe they could go further and charge for the records you dance to, kinda PAY AS U DANCE Which records would you pay to dance to ?? Just an idea

yawn yawn yawn ...... couldn't really care what format a tune a tune is played on, its 2008, the record collectors days earning money djing, are over, step aside, let the real dj's take the stage ! big expensive tunes, don't make you a dj. as a paying punter most of my life, i really don't give a ****
  9. I also went on the 'soul trip ' L.A, an experience i won't ever forget, and I owe that to KR, one of the greatest memories of my life ( so far )
  10. Any stale old northern tunes, to keep me up on the floor...........modern or contempary
  11. ''It'll never be over for me'' tattoo in the small of my back, problem is ......i think it is !
  12. Three very nice Oil paintings by David Barrow, which i found on collectart.co.uk The middle one of the 3 is particularly atmospheric, and my favourite, It says 'price on aplication,' which means i couldn't afford any of them Meant to also say they feature the Casino, and dancers
  13. Yes, i should go when the 'soul in the sunners' aren't about, the cheeky monkey puts the prices when they're in town, and yes, its happened to us
  14. Have to agree totally, the morning after the Newquay soul night i was amazed at how i felt, what a difference, apart from the obvious improvement in the smell of my hair and clothes, i actually felt fine I always attributed the 'hung over' feeling to having a drink, but clearly its not just been the drink. Im asking myself now, what damage has been done to my health , I guess thats a 'wait and see'
  15. Thats terrible news, please can someone pass on our very best wishes, Jo and Tony from Cornwall
  16. Had people that come in to Newquay claiming they want to 'just speak to a freind' then they are leaving, i let them in, and an hour later i see they are on the dance floor ! I always go and ask for payment, in the middle of the floor
  17. Thank you , we will put all participating promoters on our programme for the weekend almost full now room for a couple more then thats it , thanks to all that have shown an interest, i am moved by the response
  18. The Newquay weekend attracts people from all over the country, , Bolton, Manchester, Newcastle, Midlands etc, I would say a large midland crowd, and so far no one from Newquay has asked for a spot !! We have our regular Newquay soul night july 7th, but thats it , nothing else in cornwall shame, but thats how it is down here, soul starved ! We have to travel to get our fix
  19. Thank you, i appreciate that
  20. exactly!! there are too many, and how can we listen to them if they don't get booked !!???? as a promoter it can be difficult, when inundated with requests from people we don't know which we get in Newquay, they all want the chance, and we will do that for as many as possible on the thurs, and the promise of bookings from there on ! Call it what you like, its up to the person that does the best whether they take the opportunity to do well or not I was waiting for the 1st negative comment Ken, thats soul source for you, congratualtions
  21. Theres always someone that takes a positive move and turns into a negitive, this is a genuin attempt to give keen but relatively unknown djs a chance. and has the support of quite a few promoters now !
  22. Also yesterday evening Chris Waterman has offered one at Brookfields all we need now are some keen djs to take us up ! thats four excellent venues all willing to show support on this Thank you Jo
  23. Thats good of you, thank you Jo
  24. Also 'Bridgewater soul night' , Thank you Pete, this is an ideal opportunity for new djs, so lets have a few more on board please and all you djs that want a chance, come forward we are waiting to hear from you.
