  1. Hmmm..not bad I suppose, but I prefer my R N B (like my northern) to be more hard hitting and powerful, because I`m not only a DJ ,I also dance you see...Try this instead...then try finding one. Mine`s the only copy I`ve ever seen. And if you do find another, you have my admiration . Anyway, enough talk...let`s get to the action.. Here`s.. JESSIE MAE-DON`T FREEZE ON ME-ARP
  2. CROSSFIRE?
  3. When buying a copy of ANY recorded material..You do NOT own the audio/video even if you buy an original copy of the material. What you are buying is a licence to play the recording ,and only then under the conditions that the copyright holder states unless special permission is granted. (i.e. an additional licence for public broadcast in radio stations, pubs, clubs etc.) But the beauty of our scene is that the copyright has expired on many of our favourite recordings-a lot of these record and/or music publishing companies have gone to the wall-so can we do what we like with these? I`ve seen a certain deejay doing a spot from his laptop-(it was plugged into the decks)..I was surprised to see this, but so long as the guy owns the originals has anybody got a problem with this? Unethical? Maybe. And then there`s this... https://www.ppluk.com/ppl/ppl_lf.nsf/DigitalDJ?openPage And the people who are against it... https://www.pledgebank.com/djlicense Comments please....

No, they`re old pilots... "There are old pilots And there are bold pilots But there are no old bold pilots..."

I`ve got quite a few in a great big bag. I was one of the sad b**trds who used to collect em (a.k.a. stuffing em in my holdall to use as note paper) you see...From the niters, from the warm-ups (think they call `em soul nites these days... ) from the venues I used to frequent.. I`ll scan some....
  6. DONI BURDICK-BARI TRACK.- SIR...Awesome...You know why..Enough said? SUPERBS-I WANNA DO IT WITH YOU BABY-DORE Little tongue- in- cheek affair on the piano before the real stuff starts.. Also..a few short audio files.. I`ll post them when I stop getting this warning: "The requested file upload failed because suitable permissions have not been enabled on the 'uploads' directory. Please contact the board administrator and inform them of this error." Thank you..
  7. Probably thrown out on purpose by a disgruntled soul widow....
  8. Where did you hear he`d passed on? Who told you? There`s some quite a lot of stuff about Jimmy Randle on here now. He`s more famous now than he ever was. Anyway, he`s not dead. Don`t believe it... Stu Bower
  9. Pilky-R.I.P. Good guy. We had some great laughs. God bless him... Stuart Bower

I`ll ask my mate if he`s got any hanging around, or if he can find any.. He`s from Reading, Philadelphia
  11. You`re probably right!
  12. When you mention Pilky-is that my old mate Alan Pilkington? (Now sadly passed on?) Out for three days solid without sleep..Pilky gave me a lift home over the Pennines. Got on the motorway..he dozed off..I ended up steering the car from the left hand seat until he woke up. .His glasses came off and bounced off the dashboard. Nearly ended up on my nose..Got to my place..He collapsed on the settee and was out for about 13 hours...Happy days..
  13. Yes, Ken. If I remember rightly, she was hanging around him at the Griffin. He kind of introduced me to her-I thought it was his daughter or summat.. and he said he was going away with her..and I never sawe him again...If he is dead she killed him..and we all know how!! Don`t think he`s dead though..he`s the type that could survive a nuclear war and stay around a couple of months after....
  14. No, that was Jimmy "The Hat" Randle from Knottingley in West Yorkshire. He wasn`t that old-he just looked old. Used to dj every now and then at The Manifesto Club. He also had sinus troubles. Nobody`s seen him on the scene in a long time now. Last time I saw him was at the Griffin Hotel niter in Leeds. Stayed at my gaff overnight when he couldn`t get home and stayed three months. Sold me some good 45`s. A bit of a character. Mad as a hatter. Good laugh. Anyone seen him?
  15. Well it HAS been posted somewhere else...
  16. Burn all your vinyl onto loads of CD`s. Sell all your vinyl back to the Americans. Buy a barge (with a CD player installed of course) and sail romantically into the sunset, ma`am....... To the sound of soul..
  17. Nah! Never ever seen a WD. Like you, I`ve owned an issue for years though. And I`ve definitely NEVER seen a real WAYF!
  18. I don`t plan my spots.I like to be more spontaneous. That way it`s more fun for me and the punters cos they never know what they`re going to hear next. I sometimes smile when I see fellow deejays open their boxes and they`ve got notes sellotaped to the inside of their record box lids.. ( Didn`t think you could analyse human nature-as it changes everyday. Play the same 45 two days in a row-you won`t have the same effect on each day, even with the same crowd!! Maybe we could employ psychiatrists to buy and play records for us for each individual venue we do You`re all right about the beer though...and too much of it..trouble cueing em in..failing judgement.etc,etc.
  19. Depends how much you love the record! That`s IMO how the prices go up! Somebody somewhere pays over the odds, fearing they won`t ever see a copy ever again. Then before you know it everyone`s paying that price!
  20. Piercebridge, officer? Never heard of it!
  21. Forget who played it at the 100 club (Butch maybe?..claimed it was an unreleased acetate...) I used to play it but (amazingly) I`ve not heard it played by anyone else in a long long time..
  22. Yesssssss...California Gold?
  23. Yes,Great sound on CALLA.First heard it a long time ago at the 100 Club. Went out and bought it immediately. I used to play it a lot in my sets.Needs playing more often, ma`am.
  24. and another 45 had the same start as Saxie Russell on Thomas/Tomas....Yes! It`s quiz time again folks...What was it??
