  1. They look like some swings to me? On the pictures, I'm not a fan of 70s northern soul attire at the best of time, but dear lord the kids in the earlier pictures cant be hard core northern soul followers can they?!?
  2. Is the flip Joey? (can't see the link) bloody fantastic track! Love it!
  3. Been on several at scooter rallies, and think they are great. You can go from some 90's house dance to belting out Jilted John or something random... Always hilarious!
  4. Well there seems to have been a few post on this thread stating that boots and re-issues are needed to keep young people interested, just replying to those people
  5. Why is it always assumed that young people dont collect originals? And that we have a desire to fill a box with boots and re-issues?
  6. Well thats me told... I am going to blame the hangover for the thought haha!
  7. Yeah, It's probably a shit discussion.... It just got me thinking hearing the Tams on the Kent album, not really a tune I listen too much but it really is good.
  8. This is just hypothetical discussion, basically earlier I was listening through some Kent LPs and in particular Shoes for the first time. And to my surprise "The Tams - Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" came on. I was surprised in amongst tunes I was familiar with and new to me tunes, such a all time classic was on there. It instantly pepped me up and made me want to move! So, the question is... Say, you are DJing at a well respected night/nighter, you are playing set of underplayed gems and rarities. But, in the middle of your set you bang on song like The Tams and pack the floor. Would this be an inspired choice or lazy DJing? This discussion goes against the tide a little on here, and I'm not suggesting any old "classic" would be classic as inspired DJing. But stuff like the Tams and Curtis Mayfields - Move On Up are brilliant tunes and stand the test of time. This topic is just meant as a bit of fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAfaR6IuO-4

  10. I was bored and flicking through Manships site, this caught my eye (no surprise why), good tune!
  11. Please PM with price and condition. Jordan
  12. As a younger member of the scene I am pretty confident the scene will continue, theres a fair few youngsters who love soul on the northern, mod, and scooter scenes. However, will it be as big as the 70s again? I dont think so. My vision it will be a small scene, some what more like the European scene, young vibrant yet small and consolidated. There will always be an attraction and interest in soul music, it's got a magic, a sweetness and obviously soulful feel you cant get from any other genre. Personally, it was the oldies and classics that first sparked the interest. And in particular the Snake was the first track that did it for me. I know it's not cool to say that, but at the time for all knew it could have been the most respected/rarest/expensive track known to man. However, as you dig deeper you realise that there are is so much more than the classics. Thats what keeps me interested, as you can keep listening and listening and still find amazing tracks. The done to death oldies have become very stale to my ears, but to dismiss them as crap is a bit nonsicle! However, to throw the cat amongst the pigeons... Mr YoungSoul if you havent been influenced anybody at all, how can you hate the "overplayed" stuff? Because youve got to hear these songs for the very first time at some point, surely thats when you should start to form an opinion on wether you like it or not?
  13. No, I am not saying that a higher price makes tracks better musically at all. There some fantastic and really cheap tracks, but they are the exception IMO. You've got to wade through masses of average tracks at the £5 marks to find the gems, however, that is part of the fun too. I think my point is a bit poorly worded. What I was trying to say, is I have stopped just punting fivers here and there on stuff I think is good, but not superb. And now, being more selective in my wants and if that means spending say maybe £30-40-50 pound on sounds that i think are pure quality so be it. I dont own any big ticket items so can hardly be desribed a trophy collector.
  14. Personally, I have stopped buying the 5-10 quid tunes that are decent at best, in favour of spending a little more say £30-50 on higher quality soul sounds. By being more selective, my collection has more quality and having more quality gives me some more options when I do the occasional DJ set. Rather than just having a box of filler items. Though thats not to say you cant pick up great tracks for £5-10, you can, its just that the vast majority of those tracks can be a little more average. Something I find really frustrating when I put a want out and I decline certain records based on price and condition, I quite often see them on sales lists in the coming week at as much as 30% reduced! If people offered the records at those prices in the first place, I would have bought them!
  15. Do I? haha... I use the user name on a lot of scooter related forums so just used it on here. I use it mainly because I'm from up north! I will PM my email now! Cheers!
  16. Hi Mate, I think you are getting me mixed up with Jordan Wilson? I just happen to be another young Jordan who loves northern I like the tune too, however, since I have no other reggae it seems a little pointless of me to keep it. So I would be keen to see what you have to swap or maybe I can use it in part ex with cash your way for a bigger want? Cheers, Jordan
  17. Thanks for all the offers, I am sorted for a copy of each now!
  18. I am not too fussy to be honest, thanks for the info
  19. Please PM with price and condition - after the original issue please (TAYSTER?). Thanks, Jordan
