Anyone Collect Overseas 45's With Picture Sleeves
Interesting site, not a lot of desirable titles northern wise but some nice picture sleeves at what seemed to be reasonable prices (I mean Dutch/Belgian releases must be rarer than US/UK releases surely?) Untill I came across George Benson "Supership", admitingly in a very fetching pic' sleeve, but 56 quid!!? Must be a misprint? I have one with the coulored lettering and one in black 'n' white, diferent countries, but OW MUCH? He's having a laugh there surely. These pic' sleeves are getting harder and harder to find in good condition tho' can't believe he'll get 56 quid for George Benson. Cheers Paul Woosnam

Bert Decoteaux
Yes Eddie I remember reading that too. Would'nt class it as "disco" tho' mind you theres a fair few Soul Sourcers who would. Maybe Sams a 60's only man! A couple more of Berts; Chris Bartley "Tomorrow Keeps Shining On Me" Joe Simon "Your Turn To Cry" Frannie Golde "Stop (And Look Around) Milt Matthews "All These Changes" Cheers Paul

Come on Ken!!!!! Been a very long time since Berts names been mentioned I'll bet. A discography would be long and VERY interesting. Thanks again Paul Cheers Paul Woosnam- Bert Decoteaux
Brilliant Paul, thanks for that!!!!!! Good luck with any further searching ,MUCH appreciated!!!! Cheers Paul- Bert Decoteaux
Interesting thoughts Sunnysoul all of them seem plausable to me. Not been able to find any info' on "Dish A Tunes" so can't confirm if Bert was a member or not. Not giving up tho' Cheers Paul PS Think Adey would have been on if he knew anything(or is he on holiday?) Tony Rounce could only supply a bit of info 'bout Enrique "Tony" Silvester.- At This Very Moment I'm Listening To
Thanks DelTee ''Too Late To Check Your Trap" not on the LP either, I'll be looking out for the 45. Cheers Paul- At This Very Moment I'm Listening To

Thanks for that Eddie, I'd say there was a good chance he was involved with Madeline Wilson as he produced Gloria Parker also on Samar. I'm more after info on the man himself, although it's nice to see some of the great records he was involved wih on here. I didn't realise he was involved with Sam Dees for instance. A discography would make for interesting reading I'm sure! Sunnysoul put up some interesting theories doncha think? Any thoughts on them? Cheers Paul- Why I Was Wrong About The Scene?
[quote name='soulfulsaint' date='Aug 27 2006, 12:55 AM' post='33 Everyone on this site, without exception, has made mistakes What were you wrong about?- 60's Mafia
Look out Brighton! Bring us back a stick of rock wontcha. Cheers P+M- 60's Mafia
Not sure Ken, and why aren"t you out anyway?- 60's Mafia
just my opinion, but it seems alot are trying to follow Soul Sam, and 'break'/discover the next big 70's record, and there is some rubbish being turned about in the process IMO of course,- Bert Decoteaux
Bonjour, DelTee, oui ca va vien, comme c'est va? Still on the trail mate if you can call it a trail. No real leads just snippets, mainly about his sometime partner Tony Silvester, thanks Tony Rounce Some interesting theories put foward by Sunnysoul, gonna check them out. Not giving up tho', keep ya posted(or keep me posted if you find something, please) Cheers Paul PS Ou est Bert?- Bert Decoteaux
Yep, spot on Ken- Bert Decoteaux
Er.........BUMP A couple more of Berts Northern classics George Blackwell-"Can't, Lose my Head" Maxine Brown-"Can't Get Along Without You" And a couple of 70's Inner Space-"Break The Chains" Marlena Shaw- "Love Has Gone Away" Cheers Paul PS Really desperate for info' now!- Your Favorite Pete Lawson Story
Sounds a bit fishy to me Joan I wouldn't claim to have been one of Petes best mates, but on the times we met he seemed to be totally genuine "100% I'ts my life Northern Soul," and he lived it to the full "Good on 'im", as we say in Shrewsbury. We miss you Pete, Cheers, Paul 'n' Mandy- Mike & The Censations
Think yer ears might need a wash Baz It's Mike James Kirkland on lead vocals, Mike + Censations cut some great sides on Highland and Revue labels, he was also "Bo" in Bo+Ruth "You're Gonna Get Next To Me" on Claridge/EMI in the 70's and cut a rare LP under his own name too. There's a full interview and discography in "In The Basement" mag' from a few years ago. Love "Don't Mess With Me" too!! Cheers Paul Woosnam PS The other sides a great ballad too!- Youtube Probs Shortened Clips.why?
Or you could just go directly to "You Tube" Cheers Paco- Where Did All Those Instrumentals Go ?
Ow much!!! Seem to remember owning a US one sided promo at one time. Making do with a UK 12 at the mo' oh and the LP too. Saw him live a couple of years ago @ North sea Jazz here in Holland, he didn't do New York City tho'. Great record we like it 'round our way.- Bert Decoteaux
Is Huey pronounced Hughie? Paul Woosnam- You Can Never Have Too Much Vinyl
I like the idea of going for quantity, especially if they're unknown (to me) but these days space doesn't permit so I'd have to go for a couple of exspensive things myself. Northern/modern oldie I guess as I'm not up on the current stuff, then again if I could hear it first........! Nice thread Chipsman.- Where Did All Those Instrumentals Go ?
Looks like a rare 'un Ken, where you been? And why aren't you on the marmite thread? Cheers Paco - Bert Decoteaux
