News: Soulbowl
Great writeup and tribute to JA at Soul Bowl, Butch I would just like to add that without ppl like John, the scene would just not of been the same and help find so many great Soul Sounds, feeding top DJ's such as Richard Searling. I have forgotten about all about the money you had from me John back then, when myself and Kelvin Loach use to order various tracks including Soul Packs, now legendary ! ktf and respect Richard

I'm not too sure, as I've been looking into this; You seem to have RED Yew, Blue Yew, but when you start looking at Bullet Records, the info doesn't seem to align up with current info, unless that is its a different bullet records ofcouse - Nashville ?? https://www.blueslandproductions.com/50s60s_catalog.html#bullet https://www.globaldogproductions.info/b/bullet.html Anybody got any further info on this ??

Pete I assume you know Richard is playing this now famous set on RADIO soon ?? SUNDAY AFTERNOON 14.12 : 16:00 - 17:00 on SOLAR RADIO SKY CHANNEL 0129, www.solarradio.com, or via the Solar Radio free app. In this "Cellar Full of Soul " special I'll be reliving track by track a set that I played at Wigan Casino on Saturday 29th September 1979.

Tomangoes Acetate ?
Well the supposingly Holy Grail record isnt the original vinyl now is - that title belongs to the first and original release on REVILOT ?? Just checkout the time differential too !!!!
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
Arrrr, naughty, LOL However it maybe the original issue but its not the actual Original Vinyl, subtle difference ........................
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
Please educate me ...............
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
Now Chalky, i'm surprised at you here .... So you would play for example - Frank Wilson on TMG would you at an OVO event ??? Please explain why you would allow Darrell Banks to be played on a London issue when that isn't the original vinyl, I cant wait for the reply...............
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
I'm only replying to your previous requests - just what a good DJ does...... lol
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
Another title I know he definitely has, but maybe NOT totally exclusive to just him but there aint many copies AFAIK Sidney Barnes - Safety Zone
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
LOL, no at somepoint these records are going to wear out just like any content on a CD will be lost in time, thats its nature, However we are in the 21 century with new technology which I think we should head towards Just think, all those records never backed up, copied, played to death or destroyed and then that sound is lost forever ................ At somepoint is the NS still exists in decades to come, it will have to move forward
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
Not really but thanks for the offer ........ What I was trying to achieve is debate several points or angles at once, sorry In essence what i'm saying is that if the venue is OVO, thats fair enough and acetates should NOT be played nor re-issues if ORIGINALS are in existence else whats the point of saying "lets have an OVO event", so therefore IMO Darrell Banks could only be played on Revilot not London ( stock or demo ) nor Stateside :-). However, my main point is that the majority of soulies aren't bothered nowadays what medium its played from, as long as they play the "kind of stuff" they what to hear which is where KR is having to balance and I think this is the direction vaious venues are taking, some down one path , others another ..........
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
I've already explained what label its on, plus this situation as explained previously by another member is very rare nowadays ............... and Yes every time i've heard him play it its always got excellent attention on the dancefloor !
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
OK one example and please correct me if I'm wrong ............... He has the only Jobette copy of Joe Stubbs - Hit & Run, i've never heard anyone else play it
-
Tomangoes Acetate ?
Touche, but these few records which only one or two have got, doesn't make a vast difference tbf. The days of "years gone by" are gone and there are loads of DJs with loads of originals now, but what my previous point was it that the majority of ppl attending non OVO events aren't really bothered by the media its played from.....

Tomangoes Acetate ?
At Stoke & Keele his floor is rammed, honest, LOL !
