  1. Shipping from Denmark to UK/EU is £3.50/ £6 elsewhere. thanks for looking! Thelma Jones - Stronger / Never Leave Me (Barry) - VG- £10 100mph stormer! Rough copy but as they say "great for DJ'ing". Plays at VG+. Madeline Bell - picture me gone (Philips) EX £15 tiniest label marks only. blue label variant of this big oldie! Howard Tate - Glad I Knew Better / Get It While You Can (Verve) EX- £15 Excellent tune with a great early funk edge to it. Ballad flip is sublime as well. Eddie & Ernie - The Cat / I'm Goin' For Myself (Eastern) - VG+ - £8 Another great tune from a great pair! Oscar Toney Jr. - Ain't That True Love / For Your Precious Love (BELL) - EX dh - £8 Great little R&B tinged northern with a fantastic deep flip. Jackie Lee - Your P-E-R-S-O-N-A-L-I-T-Y / Try My Method (Mirwood) VG - £5 Needs little introduction! Fabulous Mirwood sound from the venerable Jackie Lee. Another "great for DJ'ing" copy.
  2. Can't recommend Des enough! I've bought so many records from him since I started posting on these forums. unbeatable deals, fast shipping and nothing but quality through and through.
  3. He's also playing Roskilde Festival here in Denmark next weekend, but tickets for that one are bookoo expensive and there isn't enough beyond him and a few others that would make it worth it to go to weeklong hellishly crowded festival
  4. The best advice I can offer here is to say that, by this thread and the other "best sounds for a fiver" thread, you can see that there's so many great (and often underplayed) sounds that will really turn some heads and move some feet to be had for the price of a cheap lunch. Don't be fooled into thinking you need only the top rare biggies to get a good floor going. Happy digging!
  5. Never heard this version, its great!
  6. Is it "Times Are Changing" you're thinking of, mate? Just gave it a listen, seems a pretty standard plodding ballad to my ears
  7. Jaco, I'd be curious to know if you remember the name of that club? I'm originally from San Diego and love to find out more about its seemingly non-existent history with soul music.
  8. ANYTHING but "bland", the music legacy this guy has left behind. RIP Bobby.
  9. Great price and astounding record that Bobby Dixon is. Same astist as Bobby Lee Fears "Exodus" and similar funky northern vibe on the flip ("Woman, You Made Me") which is the better side IMHO.
  10. If we're talking blue-eyed (personally dislike the term, but a catch-all is a catch-all) soul, THE MAGNIFICENT MEN should certainly be mentioned for being just that... Magnificent!
  11. Agreed, I think it's a fairly unmentioned cheapie that deserves more play, killer group harmonies there. So jazzed I can't sleep now!
  12. 3 from evilbay tonight, all 3 long-time wants! Geno Washington - I'll Be Around (When You Want Me) (Atac) Chuck Jackson - These Chains Of Love (Wand) Creations - I've Got To Find Her (Globe) :)
  13. Will definitely be popping in to visit when I'm in town in July, I guess I should bring my record box with as well?

John Manship's site should be of great service, as he will undoubtedly have everything you're after in top condition. Easy to browse, lots of soundclips, and fast shipping. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk
  15. Watch out for back-cueing anything on styrene.
  16. I had a weird boot of Tamala Lewis I spun when I was first playing Northern out (yes I know, a BOOT ). The disc was seriously lacking any low end though, so it always sounded way too thin despite any EQ'ing tricks. One of my first loves of Northern Soul, that one.
  17. I've been playing it out here in Denmark the past couple of gigs, great response so far Sounds the business over big speakers and mixed up with some "bigger" tunes you'd never know its about as common as Herb Alpert!
  18. Any gospel collectors here? I can't find any info on this release, and some very nice sounds here. Check it out: https://www.ebay.com/itm/321145231054?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  19. Nice strolling tune from Brenton Wood, never heard it before either. Kind of reminds me of Occasions - There's No You on Big Jim.
  20. Yet another top spin of mine, never grow tired of it Though I think its been going for a bit more than a fiver lately, it really should be no more than that.
  21. Seconded! love that tune
  22. Also of late, this dirt cheap side has been a huge favorite. "Gimme Little Sign" has been a favorite since I was a kid and would hear it on "oldies" radio in the US, but I'd never bothered to give the flip much attention till recently. Absolutely sublime S-O-U-L https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3puT3sUr5OQ
  23. So true, Richard. Both sides get ample play from me. That record was my "gateway drug" to collecting Northern.
  24. Ben Summers (who's been incredibly kind to help me out with some wants recently) has one for sale on his site here, soundclips and label scans too! https://www.seriouslysoulful.com/listings-featured.php?style=Northern%20and%2060s&letter=0-9
