  1. You're right Jaco - it was about Emmett Till. Such a sad story - why can't we all just live & let live peacefully? I always say that when we were teenagers watching all the soul bands back in the 1960s, none of us realised just how badly they were treated in the States. We looked upon them as our heroes! No surprise that some decided to settle here in the UK.
  2. I've just watched a film called Till on BBCIplayer. It's a harrowing true story about a young black boy in 1950s America who was beaten to death for paying a compliment to a white woman & his mother's ensuing fight for justice for her son. It's a very sad story - hard to watch - but well worth it.
  3. Cracking pics here - I love Snowdonia. Long time since I was there - crossing Crib Goch was very hairy! The mist was down & the scree was really wet & slippery - scared out of my wits & thought I was gonna die!
  4. "Few practice shots whilst out.Stonechat,Male Kingfisher,Woody showing 2nd eyelid and flying off neighbours roof,Magpie,Kestrel(juv female i think?) and a poor effort at a Glossy Ibis as really poor light." Cracking pics there! Glossy ibis? 👍👍👍I'm jealous!
  5. "Binged watched it last week, first impressions were so so as I thought the supermarket scene was well overplayed ." You're right - the supermarket scene really was very overplayed! If it had been a serious drama then I would have been critical too, but I just watched it all in the spirit I think it was intended - a light-hearted drama - slightly tongue-in-cheek but with a point to make as well. If the programme had been a serious documentary about the menopause how many people would have watched it? I doubt I would...........
  6. I'm halfway through binge watching BBC1's Riot Women - I absolutely love it! Is anyone else watching it? It gets a massive 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍from me!

Everyone seemed to have a great time at The Harold Club last night! The Soul Brew DJs - plus guest DJ Julian Bentley - played some storming tunes that kept the dance floor busy all night. Thanks & well done guys! I've heard some really nice feedback, both last night & also today.👍 Here's just one of the compliments with regard to last night from one of our Harold regulars............"Just had the pleasure of witnessing probably the best set ever at the Harold club , Julian Bentley DJ extraordinaire played Torch set which transported me back to the Torch as a 16 year old , thank you sir 👏🏻" Thanks for that Chris - always good to get nice feedback! Thanks too to all who came to support us at The Harold - as always - you are all very much appreciated! Hope you will be able to join us next month on Friday 21st Nov, when ex-Bradford lad Chris Wormald will be making the trip over from Cleethorpes to join us for a guest spot on the Soul Brew decks.🙂
  7. See you soon Julian!
  8. Looking forward to tonight - it sounds as though we could well be in for a busy one! Best get there early doors........
  9. Thanks for all of this - really interesting thread!👍
  10. Nice pics there - thanks for sharing👍
  11. Just finished binge-watching Blue Lights - WHAT A FNALE!!!! Gripping or what??👏👏👏👏
  12. Blue Lights - Season 3 (BBC1 & also on BBCIplayer) is every bit as good as series one & two - it just has to be the one of best cop dramas I've ever seen! Set in Northern Ireland - it's well-acted, gritty, tense, edge-of-the-seat, nail-biting stuff - but also with a very human touch too. Definite 👍👍👍from me!
  13. Sounds good to me Julian - bring it on!
  14. Thanks for all your hard work Mike - your efforts are very much appreciated!👍

Thanks to Chris Jenkinson for taking pics at The Harold Club last night. 👍Thanks too to guest DJ Shaun Callon & Soul Brew DJs Marc, Steve & Stuart - you all played some fab tunes & kept the dance floor busy with a wide selection of 60s tunes. I heard a few 60s beat tunes - some nice R&B - lots of good old 60s soul that then carried through to the Northern scene in the 70s - & then to end the night we had a bit of ska. Something for everyone as they say & the feedback that I heard from around the room was all very positive. 👍Well done guys!👏 Last - but by no means least - thanks to everyone who chooses to join us at our The Harold Soul nights - your support really does mean a lot & we couldn't do it without you!❤ Hope you can all make it to The Harold on Friday 17th October, when guest DJ Julian Bentley will be spinning the vinyl on the Soul Brew decks.🙂
  15. Tonight's the night folks & it sounds like we're in for another busy one! Best be there early.......
  16. Looking forward to a good night Marc - I'll see you there!👍👍
  17. I'm watching Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams - season 3 (BBC1 at the mo & also on BBCiplayer) & it's every bit as good as seasons 1 & 2. Hats off to the guy for his efforts with kids that have been excluded from schools - struggling with everyday life & were heading down the wrong path. Society would have written them all off as no-hopers, but Freddie has patience, understanding & enthusiasm in bucketloads - he manages to turn rebellious teenagers into an enthusiastic, functioning cricket team with hopes, dreams & ambitions to do things & go to places they'd never even dreamed of. Well done Freddie Flintoff - my hero!👏👏👏
  18. Thanks for that one Mike - I found it very easy to use.👍
  19. I watched the final episode of I Fought The Law last night - a 4 part drama on ITVX - based on fact & well worth watching. Thankfully I never found myself in Ann Ming's position, but if I had I would like to think I'd have shown the guts & determination that she did. Well done Ann Ming! 👏👏👏👏
  20. No spoilers from me - but that last episode was absolutely GRIPPING - proper edge of the chair stuff!
