I'm in the process of watching Dope Girls on BBC1 - it's fab & I'm hooked - definite from me!

Another cracking night in store at The Harold Club! The Harold's got it all - a warm welcome & fab, friendly atmosphere; great sound system with request-friendly DJs - if they've got it with them, they'll play it for you! There's a top-notch dance floor with absolutely no need at all for talc; bar prices at WMC rates; large car park & good transport links. It's situated on the main road, with easy access from Chain Bar Roundabout, regular busses from Bradford, Brighouse, Leeds & Huddersfield & it's also close to Low Moor train station. There's even a nice hotel (The Guide Post) less than 10 mins walk away for those who fancy making a weekend of it!

I have a few friends who have had treatment for prostate cancer - all got through it successfully apart from one. A good few years ago, one of my close friends knew that her husband had a problem. She'd tried for months on end to reason with him - begged & pleaded - cajoled - nagged & bullied him to see the doctor, but he refused outright - head buried very deeply in the sand - until it was far too late & he was way beyond treatment. He spent his final days being cared for in a hospice. Very sad, heart-breaking story, but there's a lesson to be learned here guys - look after yourselves & please don't leave it too late to seek help! My heart goes out to anyone living with this or any other form of cancer.

AI re-writing the History of Northern Soul
Kathryn Magson replied to Paul-s's topic in All About the SOUL
To me, AI will always look like some "plastic" creation - it will never be able to replicate the buzz that we all felt when en route to an all-nighter........ the sweat running down the walls of some grubby old cellar with the music bouncing off the walls..... that gritty atmosphere that we all remember so fondly.....walking out on a Sunday morning blinking in the sunlight (or shivering in the cold!) with the music still ringing in our ears........AI will never - ever - be able to do that! -
Nice to meet you too Cherise xx

What a cracking night at The Harold! The room was buzzing from the get go - the DJs all played storming sets & kept the dance floor busy all night. Well done guys - you nailed it! Great to see lots of new faces, with people saying that The Harold had been recommended to them by some of our regulars. Thanks for the recommendation guys - it's much appreciated! Thanks too to the hard-working bar staff - rushed off their feet as usual. Feedback from around the room was all very positive - everyone seemed to have a great night & the new faces all said they will definitely be back. Roll on Friday 21st March. when our guest DJ will be Shirley Stevenson (Nottingham) will be joining us for a guest spot.

I went there a few times but mostly went to The Wheel. Can't see any faces I recognise but it was SO many years ago! You're right Rick - they all do look to be having a good time...some big eyes there...

I was at The Twisted Wheel most weekends from 1966-70 & saw some brilliant bands there - way too many to list them all! The Drifters. Junior Walker, Ike & Tina, Root & Jenny Jackson, Oscar Tony Jr, Jimmy James, J.J. Jackson, Jimmy Ruffin, Jamo Thomas, Bandwagon, Flamingos..........that's just off the top of my head - I could go on forever! I tried a few other clubs - Golden Disc in Keighley - Plebs in Halifax - Birdtrap in Burnley - String o Beads in Bradford to name just a few - but the Wheel was always favourite. Happy days - we didn't realise at the time just how lucky we were!
