Someone offered me £300 for mine a couple of months ago ... but dont really sell stuff at all .... unless I've got two of something , then I would try and trade first .. I know some don't really get collecting patches and other bits of memrobillia , but for me it's a walk down memory lane , together with the tunes ... it takes you back in time and when we look back , memories are all we have ... and it can live on .. It was a natural progression for me and my mates at 17 to move from the smooth dance floor of the Highland Room ( which I have a piece of ) and the salty air smell of Blackpool to carry on the evening by making the trek over to Wigan when it opened its doors ... I guess we where looked on as kids by our older peer group as we where never allowed to sit near Mad Sam and his mates at any venue , even though my best mate was his younger brother .. there was a definite "Lord of the Flies " air about things, but we where tolerated . I have to say, I never looked at anyone as kids really, as I was one myself , but didn't like the whole era when things became more commercial , and the cameras where let in and like some , stayed away that night ... Maybe it was because I didn't want others in Liverpool to discover what we had ... what we where listening to .. how we where dancing , as very few in our neck of the woods made the effort to find out .. so when it all started hit Top of the Pops ... well .... But I did go to the 3rd Anniversary, as every year , and being the collector I've always been , saved all of the memrobillia from that time . Funny thing about time is , is that it can play tricks and things can change in your own mind regarding dates and places ... but I have to say I don't remember getting this patch in 78 ... and if you say Dave it's not the first issue ... what is ... ? anyone got a first issue ? I always thought the woven 3rd Anniversary patch was the later one ?

Depends on what numbers you have .. early numbers , from 1 - 20 can be anywhere between £10-£40 .... numbers 20 - 40 can go between £ 5 - £15 and after that they go for about £5 ... although you may see them higher on Ebay ...

Yes Dave , your right ... but I guess a lot think it was, because the smaller round one was made not long after . It was just not the right one for the anniversary ... still from the late 70's though if I'm not mistaken .. This is the original ..

While I agree with most of the comments about what record labels and companies are now doing for RSD and its sales lists , as I said before , it can and is about so much more . Yes lots of the releases don't seem to stack up to much , and many in the bizz may look at this day as just another cash cow to milk ... there are lots of other things that take place on this day to celibate vinyl and music ... I guess it may depend on what your local independent record store is like and how much they can or will enter into the spirit of celebrating the black wax ... At mine it had live music , PA's , discussion, food , coffee , and a collectors records fair ... so it takes away from the commercialism and brings together like minded lovers of the groove ..

I saved and sold some stuff and upgraded to a Radikal power supply ... so I don't need the adapter ... was I pain in the butt for many years having to turn things off ... take the platter off .. change the belt position and start all over again ...

That's my old deck I gave to my young mate at school so he and his young kids can start their vinyl journey ... as I knew he always wanted to start playing and collecting but with 3 young kids , was hard .. I have it's big brother

Hmmm not sure you'd find it on line any cheaper ... well not right away anyway ... and RSD is about so much more than the new releases that get pushed out ... it's about supporting your local independent vinyl shop .. its about live music ... and it's creating a vibe for the new generation of young vinyl devotees that see this medium as more viable than ever .. The vibe in my local store was very cool , young , old, families ... all where out supporting this day ... and swapping stories about the ones that got away or tunes they remember ... and the beat goes on 😁

Studio 1 ... 15 x very hard to find 45's from Jamaica .. called the " House of Joy " ...

Record Store Day in London and Rough Trade Records queue was like getting into the Casino on a nighter ... so didn't even bother parking ... people queuing from 4am ... Managed to get what I wanted at local store LP Cafe in Watford , so thanks to Paul for ordering it ... some really good tunes !!

And it's funny how you get influenced by people at the time ..... cause a few months later ... wish i had a few of those now ... but bet we all could say that 😩
