  1. Obviously some jocks get cheap unknowns and push em ..Only a handfull of those about though ?
  2. Deejays ...Do you only take a record off the shelf after its gone at a high price on auction or on a dealers list ? Could you play lots of cheap records or would that destroy your reputation like it did Sean Hampsey's ? ( only joking Sean I bought most of your spins ) Simon
  3. I do think that less DJ's should be booked at nights and DJ's should do at least 1:30 mins in a night , or maybe two One hour spots .. I dont see any problem with this scenario ?
  4. In the case of Clarkie , I dont think he could ever be boring even over 3 hours , 60's up to the present day at a venue like the 100 club in the early 80's ....amazing ..One of the best ever and always had a couple of Modern tracks set aside for me from his sales box

  7. Nice one ..that has happend actually .. in the early 80's they( those with less money) went to a barn in Kings Lynn and some started playing Modern Soul , all good records and 99% of em cheap

  19. I just knew someone would say that..
  20. Yeah Steve , I heard a mixed spot of his at Soul Rev ...Although I was running around like an idiot trying to find the Modern Soul vibe and missed some .. I think freestyle is the way forward I do know the younger crowds abroad accept lots of genres more readily ..I have noted the Orwell as a place to check out , but Im not a big fan of crossover , being played to dancers to be honest ..
  21. --> QUOTE(C.B @ Jun 8 2007, 10:50 AM) link Lifeline Soul Club Hi Christian , you funky soul . .. By regular I mean at least bi-monthly .. It would have to be a smallish venue too with mixed genre's
  22. Very enjoyable threads indeed .. You cant break the spirit of a Modern Soulie , although some may snap our records
  23. Well at least someone is breaking records on the Northern scene ..and thankfully Butch is still hammering good ones .. His mixed genre sets abroad seem more interseting for me these days ps. there's no regular hardcore event now to break sounds ..
