Dont know about that , DJaying/promoting is a thankless task sometimes , you need the skin of a rhino !!

It makes sence to DJ and promote , someone has to do the first set for nowt , to the bar staff

The good DJ I think needs to a) believe in themselves b have some exclusives c) carry some requests / big sounds. d) not just chase "trophy records" ++++++++++++++++ I agree with those points Steve , not sure about doing requests though ( only joking ) .. also on the NS scene you need a Network of highly knowledged and trusted people , especially if you are youngish Simon

But how many records does it take to keep a northern box fresh? , Surely theres hardly any records that are fresh, and people have to pad out with intelligent underplayed oldies in Northern sets or diversify like Butch with other genres .( mix it up) How many really fresh hot 60's records do you get say in 3 months or even a year ps. to play underplayed oldies I think you need some sort of collection

Always been a hard one this .. It sold out very quickly at Soul Bowl when first imported !!

This isn't about oldies/newies/upfront/unknowns/indemanders etc, this is about a focus on the club scene, the adrenaline of the dance and DJs who are not prepared to compromise in their efforts to give the dancers a good party. DJs who compromise, or who are not focused on this should probably not be up there DJing IMO. +++++++++++++++++ I sort of get this James , but you'd have to describe how a DJ would compromise the dancefloor with their set ? As playing obscure sounds , new to dancers , certainly compromises the floor Cheers Simon

I dont do coverups Steve , never have , I want everyone to know what Im playing ..You will have to come to New Chapter , and perhaps the Skegness November weekender ( Rock City Nighter Reunion ) to hear lots of tunes you dont have from myself and Paul Phillips ..you know it makes sence for your wants list ..
