  1. Are they really ?
  2. Dont forget the 80's terms Modern Soul and 60's newies
  3. The question is ... why is their interest in buying these once cheap records now ... Is it because they are now looked upon as rare, and therefore viable? or because punters/dj's want diversity .
  4. "Martin Barnfather, known artistic like Soul Sam, says that soul darker with peculiarities of modern combines northern soul of the Seventies and principles of the eighty" Steve , what did he actually say or mean , on the above

Yes always a good call Robin , young Mr Phillips . why has no one backed his shows ?
  6. It certainly came very cheap , to Rock City punters Quite a few odd ball things like this around at the time( mid 80's) , of better quality too .

Yeah good luck with the gig sigher . Dont forget the Boogie Bass line crunchers , that'll get rid of the Dads Army types ps . Got a Garfield 12 for £1 in Camden , plays fine on some decks skips on others !!
  9. Hi Rod , I was thinking more along the lines of DJ's like Ian Wright (UK) , Chris B(Oslo) , DJ Them (Japan) ps. J-Brew maybe too I say this as Jtrouble ,Butch etc , played a high percentage of straight up Northern at Soul Revolution ! pps. Butch will do it fo me at Without Boudries !! (fingers crossed)
  10. What about Jazzy house and Neo Soul steppers then
  11. Londons Soul revolution ,and other gigs Worldwide prove that young people are into it , maybe with a funkier modern soul , type edge . Its still all-nighter soul music . The kids will become DJ's and promoters just give em a chance ps. I was one of the kids who went to 100 club, Fleet ,Stafford etc etc ..I thought there were some grumpy old men even then LOL ..
  12. all sent souljoe .... going quite well this , obviously more people into house then i thought

  19. Really not sure on the rarity of this one ..certainly more then a dozen came from Dave
  20. Keb Darge did play this a couple of years ago , I think .. However it was a Dave Raistrick import , and was sold at Rock City allniters 1985ish ..
  21. Cheers Tad , you got those Urban Blues Project oldies yet ?

  24. I have to say that being into Modern/All-nighter soul scene early eighties, I found the attitude from the hardcore towards the cheaper and available Modern records at Soul Bowl and Dave Raistricks similar . The phrase "No big deal" was common place However some of us got DSOF for £15 , Pro fascination £1.50 and Seville £5 Tony Troutman £2.00 ( Im sure Robin can name lots more eg Florence Vonn Trap £15 ) just records we liked and could thankfully afford "No Big deal " Time machine thread ..Im sure DSOF was £15 though .. /index.php?showtopic=15163
