The "book" prices that are usually quoted can be and are wildly differing in values.Just one example The Extremes in Johns £1000 in Tims £4000 !! Who is the nearest to its value? How can Doug Banks still be £100 + "kept on........." A record on both lists from John and from Tim this week ......1 priced at £150 same tune at £15. Is pricing down/up to whether a dealer has had copies to sell? It also seems that pricing of tunes happened -obviously-when "we" became collectors many years ago Rare records priced then, found in more recent times, are not as rare, but command ,in some instances,several times the original value.Inflation? Cheers to all who have posted on this topic

Hi Janine,I take at least 250 records out with me when I DJ ,out of respect for other DJs who may have played out some, I have ,earlier in the night.If I have a record with me thats requested,then I play it ,whats the point in carrying a record you believe in and not playing it? Am I saying I am not a rare soul DJ? Yes. I know what I know and collect NEW TO ME .Possibly New to others as well?Being able to slash out big money for a tune doesn't make anyone a rare soul DJ..just someone who wants to be recognised as having a "rare" soul set ,that most people know.........IMO Stevie Z

Well then ,the tune you loved at first hearing at the (too loud from the decks) venue when making a purchase (or not from a sound-burger).Did you buy it and regret it OR did you have second thoughts and say thank God .Do records seem better or worse the day after???
