Instrumental All Niter
True, but I happen to think it could work. But of course I am biased, I love instrumentals, as well as my R&B / Soul / Northern / Popcorn VOCALS. On top of that, I'm posting from my favourite Pub in Stavanger, Norway, where I'm bored out of my skull and I've had a couple of N¸gne IPA's, a really strong Real Ale in a bottle from a Micro Brewery in Grimstad over toward Oslo. Not long to go now. I'm back home for Easter on Thursday and I've got some nice venues and friends to meet lined up for at least Friday and Saturday night. Can't wait!!!

Instrumental All Niter
What is it with you lot, can you not read? And stop going on and on about there not being enough instrumentals to fill 8 hours!!! And how it would drive you crazy not to hear a human voice on a slab of vinyl for more than an hour or so. Jazz fans do it all the time don't they? And there's a load of so-called Jazz fans out there amongst us R&B / Soul / Northern / Modern fans; at least that's what I keep hearing? Anyhow, I asked earlier, "has it ever been done" from say 8 or 9pm to 1 or 2am? That's about 5 hours? Well, has it? Surely, there are enough quality R&B / Soul / Northern Soul / Mod instrumentals to fill 5 hours very adequately? Don't ya'll think???

Johnny Moore
Bloody hell Mark, how do you keep all that info in your head? Surely, you must have it all written down somewhere? Also, I've gone all stiff at the prospect of you posting some soundbytes to back up your 'report'. That last one sounds tasty. "It May Be Tears Of Joy", etc. Any chance of a soundbyte for that one at least?

Been Digging - Quiz Time
Honestly? Not my cup of tea I'm afraid. Sounds a bit cabaret'ish, if you know what I mean. Still, it wouldn't do if we all liked the same things, eh? Good idea though. The quiz approach I mean. Makes people listen, harder!!!

Instrumental All Niter
The more I think about it and the more I listen to these instrumentals the more I think it's not that bad an idea. Perhaps not an Allnighter but certainly 8 til 2. Has it ever been done before?

Anita Harris? Jean DuShon?

One Sided Demo - Billy?
Sounded more like Mitch Ryder than Billy Butler or Major Lance to be honest.

Lenny Welch - Run To My Lovin Arms [london 10010]
Brilliant innit, when you get THAT feeling from a record like THIS. Awesome.

Getting Spins?
In answer to your question, "Why did Hancock only get a half hour", because any longer than that and you would have died from laughter. But I guess that'll not be the fisrt time you've heard that? Along with Tommy Cooper and Ken Dodd, what more is there to comedy?

Isn't This Scene Of Ours Just Great
What, one went for £538 just recently on Manships Auction site? Or some other auction? Just want to see a scan of it. Seen the reissue thanks. Think I'll get it. Not into that £500+ kind of buying. Well, not imports anyhow. Why reissue it on Laurie? Why not Top Ten?

What does it sell for? Got a scan?

Isn't This Scene Of Ours Just Great
I've been collecting records on and off for over 35 years now (mostly UK releases) and I just love it when I stumble across a record for the first time, one that everybody else probably knows, but somehow, perhaps for some good reason, it has escaped my attention for absolutely donkies years. That record in question is 'Soul Sloopy' by the Dynamics, apparantly issued on Top Ten records and perhaps even Laurie, but that has yet to be confirmed so I've heard? My question is this. Is it a rare release on Top Ten or can I get it reasonably priced? Seems it probably IS rare on Laurie? Anyhow, anybody got a scan of it. I've got a soundbyte of it. All's I want now is a copy on Top Ten. But there I go you see. It's probably as rare as hens teeth or might even be just a £10 record, I just don't know. Either way it's a great record and I'm just happy for having 'discovered' it for myself. Brilliant.

Open The Door To Your Heart
Hang on, have I got this right, this 'stompa' instrumental soundbyte you've posted, which is great by the way, was on the Tony & The Tonics UK Lp on Toast? (Is that the LP with a big red double decker bus on it?) Tony & The Tonics did versions of Darrell Banks 'Open The Door To Your Heart' and 'I Get The Feeling' on this same Lp, as well as this instrumental. Have I got that right now? My question about how this instrumental soundbyte was relevant to the thread was based on the fact that everybody was offering different versions of DB songs. This instrumental soundbyte surely wasn't a DB version, or at least wasn't a DB version instrumental? Right? Forgive me. It's getting late and I'm tired.

Garnet Mimms
Does anybody out there know if 'I Keep Wanting You' came out on a 45? If not, did it come out on an Lp, preferably a UK release like 'Cry Baby' or 'Warm & Soulful'? I'd check the Lp's myself but I'm not at home just now. Thanks in advance. Denbo.

Open The Door To Your Heart
What IS this track called, heard it elsewhere a few times without ever finding out what it was, and off what album on UK (?) Toast is it from, apart from just Tony & The Tonics? Title of Lp? Toast label number? And not that it matters but what's this track got to do with the Darrell Banks 'Open The Door To Your Heart' thread?

Here We Go, I've Got A Live One Here
This guy's own stated shipping costs don't tally with the automated system that adds it to the winning bid on the 'Pay Now' system on eBay. To be honest, I was convinced that I saw shipping costs to UK at $4. But sometimes I've been known to see things that ain't there :o) Anyhow, when I saw the total, which included $13.45 p&p Airmail with no insurance, I checked his own stated shipping cost figures and found that $13.45 was for Lp's and 12 inchers and it should have been $10 for 45's. Still steep and I've told him so!!! Trying it on or what? Hoping the buyer wouldn't notice or couldn't be bothered to challenge it. I'm only buying this 45 for a pal and it's not in great shape but hopefully good enough but the point is I couldn't care less if the deal doesn't go through so it should be intersesting to see how he reacts to my challenge which has gone already. By the way, the winning bid was only $2.75

Uk Postage On Ebay
Yeah, but you never get any 'bargains' off Dealers, do you? And, you very rarely find undiscovered, unheard of records off Dealers either. Part of the fun of dealing with 'Joe Public' on eBay is the excitement of buying 'on spec', records that look like they might be worth taking a chance on. Problem is, you get the occasional plonker who thinks packaging a styrene 45 is okay between two pieces of cornflake box cardboard cut out 'roughly' to size (and sometimes not big enough), then wrapped with extremely sticky American tape that can only be cut through to get at the 45 inside using a blow torch, to ruin all the fun. Oh well, can't win 'em all eh?
