  1. They seem to be doing something close to my dad's idea Next year’s A-levels and GCSEs in England could be pushed back later into the summer to allow more teaching time, says Education Secretary Gavin Williamson.
  2. If it's that early I will be amazed. I agree with the above and after all the Bank Of England Governor was taking yesterday about how sorry he was for night clubs / venues (which I assume fits in to this category) and how tough it was going to be for them to survive
  3. There are still several sectors in England that will not be allowed to reopen on 4 July. They are: Nightclubs Bowling alleys Indoor play areas eg softplay Spas Nail bars Tattoo parlours Indoor fitness and gyms Swimming pools Waterparks Conference centres
  4. Was this the same group ?
  5. I did last week and no reply, I suppose to some ignorance is bliss
  6. What I cannot understand and am amazed is that this forum seems to be absent of Tim Brown, John Manship etc why is that ?...... were they once members and for some reason can't be bothered, surely people of their vast knowledge would chose to comment on these questions and help us figure out what is what ?
  7. I think the confusion came with some of her credits on backing vocals (incorrectly credited as Thelma)
  8. Diane Hogans (who dated Stevie Wonder) is another "potential" contender as she was also a member of The Debonaires It does make me wonder if "one" of these ladies was lead on Hit and Run (the version being discussed) and Telma seems the most likely to me and I think you are spot on about the label. what a fantastic shout mate, maybe Don chose her name for the label (it happens a lot)
  9. I haven't heard Pat Lewis's version, can I assume it's nothing like this ?
  10. I can't quote him yet until he has come back to me as I have queried it with him Will Kev Roberts be able to help ?, as he might have been involved with Tim and the masters and the Grapevine thing
  11. I just got another message saying it was actually Gwen Owens ?
  12. So sorry, lockdown has fried my brain, please let us know
  13. Original issues are styrene and like promo are Stamped
  14. https://www.raresoulvinyl.co.uk/auctions/
  15. Bit of interest here on Tim Brown's current auction for a Demo Now, around 20 years ago when we had Goldmine Soul Supply, we hit a deal with Don Davis for release of all his productions on Solid Hitbound, Revilot, Ric-Tic, Thelma, etc, etc. Virtually all of this was done via the mastertapes (although the process was never 100% completed in terms of extracting material) and many situations cropped up including this. As I remember it, this take of ‘Hit & Run’ is actually the Debonaires, although the flipside ‘I Miss My Baby’ is Rose. We put out Battiste’s actual take of it on C.D.
  16. Finally a teacher to talk to 😀. I wondered what you thought to my fathers idea (he is 84) As the system has missed out on 3 months (approx) of education (we have 2 young buys 9 and 7) , he said "Why don't they just push the whole education system "back" 3 months including all exams, so the kids finish their classes and final schooling in December instead of September, so they will have then lost nothing (assuming no second wave)" What do you think ?
  17. I guess as The Chancellor said about businesses Mike "some will not make it" It might not be any good being a promoter if the venues themselves collapse as the hight streets may do (some businesses). I guess those run by the councils, such as here with "the Winter Gardens" and "The Tower" should get through it, but cuts and cuts are surely coming soon. Dancing on the Soul scene is usually more "distanced" than most, but not in the seating or bar areas and that will most likely suggest that until pubs / cafes open (with no restrictions) promoters can totally forget it happening IMHO I have seen comments about gigs this year (later) from promoters still stating not cancelled (as yet) and it reminds me a little of when the lockdown first happened and they were hoping. It would be nice to get opinions from Kev and Richard as they are more expert then me.
  18. Perhaps this LP should have been called "Look Mum, I Can't Sing" Mrs Mills was so popular it's amazing although her voice sounded a little "horse"
  19. "Many in the industry accept that there will be no events over a 1,000 person capacity until next March at the earliest." https://www.vice.com/en_uk/article/5dzzj8/when-uk-nightclubs-reopen-future
  20. Logically until schools, shops, sports etc have no social distancing, then venues will not be able to run surley You may be waiting I think until well into 2021
  21. It is amazing that a US company got frightened by a UK company ?
  22. Brains mashed it's the sun, thanks
  23. It got worse he starting using filthy language and hoped my family would get Covid-19 I reported him and his items have been removed from sale after contacting the boss, silly man
  24. What a fantastic question and I don't know if we will ever know The label changed to Chess the same year 1965 as I think they were under threat from the UK Argo label The LP labels were just as varied There were at least 8 different variations of the single, including an orange and yellow one as well (Bootlegs)
