  1. That is a fantastic point as it seems very strange on such a major label that it appears very few were pressed
  2. Thanks for that, so I guess Jack took the masters with him to LA and released it correctly as Eddie Parker, as opposed to The Smith Brothers / Perfections which he called then called The Magnificents as covered in the other thread
  3. I noticed recently that the MAM / Miko copy sells for a fortune Is there a difference? my ears are not as good as they used to be and it sort of follows from this thread about the label when Mr Ashford moved to LA in 1970. (ACE notes) and all the confusion with The Magnificents (normally Northern Soul DJ's covered up records !!!)
  4. Just found this note on you tube video made by his wife Marie Johnson 6 years ago referring to The Soul Majestics (maybe this was after they recorded though) "TC. Stanley Anderson who sang with the group in 1972. He went to The Chi-Lites for a short while. He died in Perivale Middlesex, England, because he couldn't receive a heart transplant."
  5. That's the one I quoted on 23rd February 😀
  6. Brilliant and a possible connection with Thaddeus S. Wales ? and the Ethics ?
  7. Came across a reminder of a tune from years ago which got me thinking and I apologise if this has been covered before (please direct me) I can' find anything about this group and I started to wonder if they were pre-Harthon and need your help please The writer was Carl Lanfield (Harthon connection) and the Producer Preston Chapman (Harthon connection) I did wonder if they were connected to The United Four, but I am normally always wrong I have done The Discogs stuff
  8. There was this thread nearly 9 years ago And this https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?16375-Spyder-turner-you-re-good-enough-for-me
  9. Expensive record and I apologise if this has been covered before (please direct me) Millions of years ago someone told me that it was a singer called Clarence Reed. I have found some listings for Clarence Reed (Jewel).....can someone confirm or deny please and add to info if possible
  10. You probably know that "unofficial" releases on Discogs, quite correctly, are never supposed to be associated with the "original" label, which makes sense, but can cause search problems unless people spot on the master release the unofficial section on the right hand side of all the listings. Question is however is yours a boot or real ? and I don't know (I will ask the submitters what makes the listing a bootleg on Discogs and see if we get a clear and precise answer)
  11. According to Discogs it was booted with same track on both sides (if the listing is correct) and of course it may have had a double same side release, legit Big City was the B side of the quoted original on the site
  12. I think you will know see what I meant (above recent posts), as the Dealers are now listing them in quantities as I predicted
  13. I know that Kendra Spotswood and The Shirelles did some backing stuff for Van in the 1960's Ady from Kent may know more than I do for sure
  14. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=DzEhAQAAIAAJ&pg=PA164&lpg=PA164&dq=tyrone+pickens+singer&source=bl&ots=nn8NnA6678&sig=ACfU3U3Y_3ypNKsyTkqvm9mXxlnxRWVHAg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi_lNSL8vjnAhUOQUEAHRCBAyAQ6AEwC3oECAkQAQ#v=onepage&q=tyrone pickens singer&f=false
  15. They also released on GM (US) and Bulldog (UK) as TNT
  16. A great link with some Fantastic records, I hope you don't mind me adding to this thread after such a long time and if it's been covered before I do apologise and please direct me I didn't know until recently that the label went broke because of The Beatles and their first signing was "The Spaniels" (Pookie Hudson) https://blog.history.in.gov/tag/ewart-abner/
  17. Wow...... they produced some American Football stars, good list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakewood_High_School_(Florida)
  18. All venues need one of these near the decks
  19. I hope that's not Dave Raistrick !!!!, it's very near The Grosvenor Hotel in Skeggy
  20. That is brilliant...... do you please have info on the Ervin Little Band as I found a band from Mississippi but they don't seem likely (but you never know) Mack Major Jr ? and Nero ?
  21. I never did know anything about this group and apologise if it has been covered before (please direct em if I missed it) I looked at who and where and "think" I have found 2 of the members (or at least writers) Elder Edward M. Nesbitt Jr. of St. Jude Great Commission Church in St Petersburg, Florida, is married to Jo Ann Nesbitt (Oct 1972) Here is the info, I have asked them on facebook but to no avail (some people as we know don't wish to discuss) https://www.churchfinder.com/churches/fl/st-petersburg/st-jude-great-commission-church/edward-m-nesbitt-jr https://www.gigsalad.com/jo_ann_nesbitt_st_petersburg
  22. This thread is completely fascinating, as it almost could imply that DJ's need to take re-issues out with them (for the fear of pilfering) and just play cheap copies, so no one would even consider pinching any.......how ironic with the OVO venues. Glad I am out of it to be honest and I only see it getting worse as prices increase. It's also very sad knowing the passion of collecting, for those who have experienced it, it must be the similar to a house break in, utterly devastating
  23. I do wonder if "bodycams" will become an essential DJ need (or a bodyguard)
  24. Wonder if anything appeared ?
