The Soul 45
No to first two so just Jackie Wilson I've lost you And add a couple to replace your first two Dells Run for cover Frankie Beverly If that's what... Think NZ said boots or re-issues do count. ROD

The Soul 45
Im sure you know that by 1970 Curtis had lost all credibility by replacing the original Impressions with Martin Peters,Martin Chivers and Alan Mullery. You might consider that spurious but I..... ROD

The Soul 45

Record Grading
I think Im right in saying that grading has always been on the basis of what it looks like. And whilst you're right that you can get visually Mint 45s that have a fault or poor sound quality it's often down to the actual pressing and it's not that common and maybe limited to the odd independent. You can grade both audio and visual but for a collectible 45 solely grading on audio, especially without a picture, is a no-no. Had Roger been selling that 45 I think most collectors would have sent it straight back had they bought it based on sound alone. ROD

The Soul 45
I think it would make an interesting thread as to why some people don't have these records in their collection. ROD

The Soul 45
Of course but remember it's not only us educated intelligent Northeners who are playing this game. ROD

Kenny Smith On Original Goldspot
Simon S used to have these. Were they bootlegs or did he find a load? ROD

The Soul 45
That's already discounted Gareth. Mark b and Trevski don't appear to have any of those earlier listed. So we need a new title. Bobby Hebb Love love love? Tony Clarke Landslide?

Showstoppers - Houseparty Contours - Misunderstanding You're doing it right P. So just these two in the running for now until someone comes on and does not have a copy ROD

The Soul 45
Im afraid you can forget modern or 70's as containing the common denominator as I for one have only a handful and Ace Spectrum isn't amongst them. ROD

The Soul 45
Again not Northern really [so you wouldn't expect a NS fan to have it] and more suited to it's place on the album. Even then there are better tracks like "We are the people darker..." and "The makings of you". ROD

The Soul 45
"Move on up" Sorry no. Bobbins!! ROD

The Soul 45
I think you've got the wrong idea here. Im assuming we have to say which 45s we HAVEN'T got to eliminate them from the running. What's 00Soul then. TMG I guess? ROD

The Soul 45
I know that Sean but if you're coming from Northern angle then "..Heard.." is not Northern so unlikely to have it. And we are trying to arrive at a 45 everybody owns. I have the two you mentioned but then I collect Motown but you're right they're not Northern either. And just to pre-empt you as to why I don't have Marvin if I collect Motown I did buy it at the time but when I got to hear the back catalogue I just thought it wasn't a very good 45 as representative of the Motown sound. A bit pedestrian really. I still don't know where we're up to!! ROD

The Soul 45
Im guessing most come to this forum via Northern so why on earth would anyone have that 45? It's a good game but I think NZ needs to exercise a bit more control so not too many titles are put forward at once as it gets confusing. Where are we up to now. Which 45s are still in the running? ROD

Knowledgable & Helpful Peeps On Here
I read that as tongue-in-cheek. A couple of smilies and it's not offensive at all. ROD

The Soul 45
Nowt by Rufus Thomas. How about Artistics "Im gonna miss you"
-
Steve Mancha
I'll listen to em both together tomorrow but just checked and Profs is 2.35 and Mancha 2.37. No idea how accurate those timings are but if so suggests different somehow. ROD

The Pendulum
Rowntrees Sound was a pub/club on Corporation St just down from Marks&Sparks going toward Ralphs and Victoria Station. Don't know if it was actually a soul club but a lot of guys used to hang around there on a Saturday afternoon. As for Al Devine Im guessing he was an old mod and deffo not a guy getting on the early bandwagon. He probably was one of those who got that bandwagon rolling!! ROD
