Here's a few more from the files that I've sold over recent times. Tell you what, that Latin-esque Checkmates track rocks (MTAOL)...ex Keb spin (I've got a spare demo if anyone wants it?)...and the Tams track is well worth seeking out should you be looking for Funky edged movers...recommended.

'Blowing out the candles'...quite popular at the Capitol Soul Club in its day...awesome over a club PA!

Price Please
Not talking money...rarer stating 'Larry' for sure...one pops up for sale every 18 to 24 months, whilst the 'L' copies should take 6 months or less...IMO. The article Pete mentioned had a figure in the thousands with regards to how many copies Larry said he sold/pressed up...though to sell into wholesaers can always lead to stock being returned and ultimately disposed of...leading to rarity...which is possibly the case for 'Larry', as he did state it was the second run after 'L'.

Jackey Beavers, Question ?
if I remember correctly, the orange one shares the same backing track as the Camaros on Dar'Cha, and has 'I Hate...' as the flipside. The other one (blue) is nowhere near as good and was also issued on SS7. Or is it the other way around colour-wise...senior moment of doubt just crept in!

My first copy cost me £17 back in the very early 80's...I was miffed for two reasons: 1. We had previously agreed a price of £12! 2. It sounded so empty when listening to it for the first time on home hi-fi rather than a club PA. Marvellous track mind...my current copy will stick with me for many more years to come I'm sure.

I have a pic of Larry somewhere...a radio DJ vanity recording that was performed/recorded in one take. They had no instrumental break planned, so they just repeated the intro and carried on, I seem to recall him stating in an interview. He also confirmed that the copies stating 'Larry' were the second press to meet the demand that was brewing (for the other side), but sadly it wasn't turned around in time and the disc didn't make it as a hit.

Famous Soul Collectors
He is a big fan of the band, Magma, as previously pointed out...in fact he put his hand in his own pocket to help finance the release of two of their LPs via Charly Records. I recall one sales meeting he came down to the offices and was more than happy to come out for lunch down the local pub with us roughie toughie reps...he was first to put his hand in his pocket to pick up the tab as well, which was nice! A thoroughly nice guy (as others also note) and was able to laugh at the 'interesting' image he had in the media, even though it really wasn't a faire reflection of the man.

A Word From Tyree Glenn Jr
Superb record...always been a fave of mine...fabulous backing track...but...what about the vocalist Tony Bartlett...amazing performance!

Brenton Wood
He must've been popular over here as there is a clutch of 7" releases from him on Japanese Liberty. I really like, 'Take a chance', whch is a lovely midtempo mover with a sparse/effective backing track...and there's also a fabulous album track called, 'Come here girl'...did that make it onto 7" anywhere?

Here's the Japanese LP that features Emory & The Dynamics Rare enough to find even over here...but...this copy is even tougher as it is a demo...I didn't realise demos existed until I found it today! What shall we start the bidding at...

In my experience, yes. Maybe there was a North / South variation of availability!?
