  1. Can anyone remember, there were lots of those Ila Vanns in Wigan Casino record bar for about £3 each. I bought at least three copies at that time. Although it was only a few years old then! Someone got the Jesse Fisher for a decent price, as it was the white and red label W104A3 issue and is a better clear cut/recording than the multicoloured label copies!
  2. Good point but I am talking about the Cleethorpes all-nighters run by Mary Chapman from Feb 1975 onwards till Nov 1976. The rest of the 1970's were All-dayers at Cleethorpes. Getting into the 1980's things changed.
  3. My point is they weren't allnighters. People reading it will think that Cleethorpes was still running as an allnigher up till 79! I enjoyed some brilliant Alldayers and Soul nights in the 70's but they where a different atmosphere to the Allnighters💥. They were mostly alcohol fueled, apart from people coming down after a nighter, so just not the same thing and there should be a definite line mentioned between them!🤔
  4. Really? I though he went to Australia. To be honest, I wondered if he was still with us? He used to wear a cowboy hat back in Wigan Casino!
  5. I don't know how Bileo was a big record at Cleethorpes in 79, as it was finished as an allnighter by late 1976. The local authorities did not want allnighters at Cleethorpes. Only alldayers and soul nights after 1976!
  6. "Tow-A-Way Zone" Diane Jenkins - Creative Funk. Original rarer red label design on this Blackpool Mecca classic. N/mint. £25 plus postage. "Common Thief"- Bill House - RCA. Another great Mecca sound on original double sided demo. N/mint. £15 + post. "I Can't Stand No More Heartaches'- Emotions - Brainstorm. Original USA storming dancer. £20. N/mint. + post.
  7. "What Would I Do" - The Superiors -Verve. Original USA 45. A great Wigan Casino record and other venues. I remember it played regularly to a packed dance floor through those years💫 Record with great shine and Ex+ condition. £70 plus £3.75 recorded postage to UK address.
  8. Two I remember, Big Joe's Ivory Brass👍 Casanova Bennett👍
  9. It is raised print because the negative pressing plate was stamped. So when the negative pressing plate is used, the positive pressing has the letters opposite, so they are raised!
  10. Yes the letters/stamp does look roughly done.
  11. Seems like the only way to get a decent price for a record these days is change our names to John Manship Auctions! 🫤
  12. Looks good quality vinyl to me. A little like an RCA press. That's why I asked if it had any other markings like an R, I or H.
  13. My original has numbers etched not stamped. Also why would they press the flip side and not the designated A side?
  14. Interesting that it has the machine stamp. Has it got any other markings in the run out groove?
  15. Guy's, Detroit Rhythm Section instrumental of "Back Street" was also great in the venue! 💥
  16. I know what you mean about the records. Some I have had a very long time and for me, at today's prices they are irreplaceable! But I try and keep things in perspective and remember they are only trinkets. If I haven't got my health, material things are worthless🤔
  17. Yes this has been discussed on here before. You can find it on the search. There is a styrene original white demo with the backwards raised S in the run out groove. Booted on a vinyl white demo also. It was very popular in the 1970's at venues like Wigan Casino allnighters etc.
  18. My Home - Big Apple Brass - Royal Flush. Maybe someone's interested but J.R. Bailey sings the vocal on it🎶
  19. Reminds me of the USA sellers who used to scribble out the 'Not For Sale' on demo copies, before they sold them, in case they got arrested by the FBI🥵😊
  20. "River deep, mountain high" on the other side of this " I'll keep you happy" You will need the LP for the easiest way to get the great track "Such A fool For You" on an original format. I like it and remember the first time I took any notice of it was when Richard Searling played it.
  21. Listen to any record ever made, too many times, too much, you will get tired of them! No matter how good they are. That's why I never listen to the classics in the car everyday, it's just wasting them! Joe Tex told the truth when he said "if you eat too much ice cream it will give you a stomach ache, drink too much coffee will keep you wide awake, miss too many payments on your house you won't have anywhere to live, You better believe it baby! 😉 The Ambassadors knew the truth when they sang - "I've Had Too Much Of A Good Thing" 💫
  22. They are all great records! 🎶. This is just splitting hairs! I would take any of them. Just enjoy them all!💫
  23. Interesting! You could be on to something with this. Can it be proved?
  24. I do remember in the very early 1980's John Anderson had them on the Soul Bowl list for £10 each, on the section of the list for things he had in quantity. He must have had several copies as they lasted on the list for about 3 weeks! It was known then but not getting a lot of dj plays. I was going to get one but was chasing other things at that time🤔.
