Hinckley All Niter Live December 1983
Another live recording to share with you, and quite different to the Old Vic one, this one being largely oldies based, though there is a nice little 70's spot at the end by Dave Evison. Hope you enjoy it!! https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/hinckley-leisure-centre-all-niter-live-december-1983/ Cheers, Mark R

Old Vic Wolverhampton All Dayer 28 December 1986
Hi Tim, To my thoughts Harpo's accent is stronger than that, but listening back again I can see that it could well be. Anyway, when you say Dee Edwards, if you mean the first track, it's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv7DZZ-0VYk Cheers, Mark R

Old Vic Wolverhampton All Dayer 28 December 1986
Hi all, I used to go to the Old Vic a lot, and have this recording from Christmas 1986 to share with you. It's mainly guys spot, but if anyone can identify other jocks I would be grateful.............I think early on it's Pep, and later some more local guys as the accent's quite strong! Hope you enjoy it.....I think these things are great............ https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/old-vic-wolverhampton-all-dayer-28-december-1986/ Cheers, Mark R

New Soul Junction Release "august Heat"
Roburt, these cuts are from the album which Cliff Steele told you was a no brainer at Cleethorpes. .....as you recall, Fish had sold out of the title. Now you can have a fix on vinyl! ! Cheers, Mark R

Keb Darge "you Are Here" - 6T's Newies From The 1980's
As promised on the Facebook "I Used To Go To Stafford All Niters" group, and especially in return for all of Chalky's sterling work with his podcasts etc, I have now converted an 80's Keb Darge C90 cassette into digital format............enjoy!! https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/keb-darge-6ts-soul-sounds-1980s-you-are-here/ Cheers, Mark R

Stylus And Cartridges Please Help
Yeah, but if the tracking force required is high, as it is for many DJ styli, then the result is the same! ! I have Ortofon Night Club S on my Technics 1210's in my "play" room and they are quite high tracking force (3g?). I also run with the anti-skate slightly off ideal to keep the stylus in the groove when cueing/mixing. I tend to play rarer records on my Dual CS505-4 on my separates system in the lounge. Going by the anti-skate setting on that, which I assume is set up ideally and not for DJ'ing (I didn't set it up, it was done in the shop), then it looks like that tracks at 1.25g. Like I say you're wasting your time worrying about it if you play your rare 7's out at gigs, unless you take your own carts/ stylii, and I can"t believe many do that........who's got the time to do that between sets? They would need setting up as there's little point just swapping them if the settings are wrong, other than knowing that the tip was at least OK, which is something I suppose. The ONLY sound argument for CD-R's in my opinion. ......that I would respect if it were a DJ that I KNOW has the tunes. Cheers, Mark R

Stylus And Cartridges Please Help
Yeah, I know what you mean Steve. ........but I didn't mean sandpaper in the literal sense.......and it's glasspaper anyway isn't it? LOL Cheers, Mark R

Stylus And Cartridges Please Help
From where I'm standing, there's little point in worrying about some of the finer points here if you're a DJ who goes out and plays his records in a talc/dust filled club!! Look at your records when you get home. ......I have!! Sandpapering on a micro-scale. ....but sandpapering all the same!! Cheers, Mark R

Djing Cock Ups
Playing the wrong track off the dreaded CD-R, with the track you wanted to play being so good that you stop the wrong track, declare your mistake etc, and play the right track.....when you could have got away with it!! Caught on a recording that one, but you have to be able to laugh at yourself! ;-) Cheers, Mark R

Djing Cock Ups
It's far from ideal Barry, but at least you've got half a chance if you know that's the configuration in the first place!! LOL Cheers, Mark R

Djing Cock Ups
Tats & Rob Wigley re-wiring the CD players (left CD into right mixer channel & vice-versa) before my first ever Prestatyn set..........gits!! I'm sure I've made loads.......some of course you can just about get away with......like playing the inst. side of Marc Evans "The Way You Love Me" 12".........some a bit more disastrous. Fully agree with Matt.......as the saying goes, "a man who has never made a mistake never made anything!" Cheers, Mark R

Guy's Goodies
Interesting stuff Steve, thanks for posting. Interesting to see Kev Draper chart The Performers (Delcos)........less than a month later he was caught on camera playing it at Leicester 2nd Anniversary. Not everyone's favourite record but just an observation! Cheers, Mark R

Richard Searling Wigan Casino 7Th Anniversary Phenomenal
As you say, deffo '80 as he says Mansfield Swan Friday 7 November, which had to be 1980. Enjoyed that, and it solved a 30 yr mystery for me. I have that Richard Anthony on a (Keb) tape here, but it's cuts off early on. Now know what it is. Anyway, love hearing Pages, Berdell etc as cover ups. Dickie must have had Pages and Ike Srrong on about +8 here.....sure sign everyone was younger. ....they'd be slowed down now! LOL Thanks for posting Pete Cheers, Mark R

Kings Hall Vid?
I do find the uniform a little embarrasing Barry to be honest...........not a good look at all. It's equivalent of an Elvis convention or the like, and that's cringeworthy I'm afraid, though I realise it's not actually doing others any harm. I had quite a few pairs of Spencers etc, but as it was the early 80's I had pegs & zoots, not the "40's" as they were known (at least around here). But if I were on the current (NS) scene I wouldn't wear them now, despite them looking far less ridiculous in the current times than wearing mega-flares does. I had the bag with the beer towels too, but I was a teenager......again it's not something I would do now. Here's a laff for you.......I've got 'em on here, not that it's easy to tell as I'm in full flow (or I'd fell over!)................Warrington Parr Hall 5 July 1986.........white belt the lot! LOL Cheers, Mark R
