  2. Thanks for those dances..so many.
  3. thanks for suggestions...looks like more than 1 show.
  4. Many thanks for that link...quite a few dances there.
  5. Penguin.... The Bounce
  6. Yes....that was one I thought of after my post Appreciate the comments..thank you
  7. Thanks I'd like to do a full show of different Dances if possible. I could probably do a good part of show of tracks naming ' The Jerk'...quite a few of them.
  8. Hello, I intend to do a 'show' in the near future based upon 1960s Dance Crazes....preferably with the dance craze in the title. Obvious ones are THE Jerk, Twist,Monkey,Boogaloo , Skate, Shotgun ,Duck,Dip,...and variations. Any ideas on tracks that I might overlook? Thanks
  9. I think I went to the Rose Royce....but can't remember too much about it. Quite a few Apollo concerts back then. Frankie Valli, Tavares, Chic, Ray Parker. Probably more. One of my friends had a relative who was a Policeman, who's 'beat' was the Apollo area. He got free tickets, and my mate took me along to a few 'pop' shows. I remember David Gates ( Bread)..Dean Friedman, Wings, I saw the Manchester group who had 'sad sweet dreamer'...no idea who they supported.!
  10. Hello, Yes, possibly getting confused. I remember Philip Mitchell, but I thought I had seen Al Green at The NCH but obviously not on the same bill....
  11. Did Thelma Houston appear on a Four Tops show?....it would have been the Odeeon if she did, prior to her joining Motown. Not sure Saw Martha Reeves at Fagins on Oxford street. I rememeber that because I arranged a first date with a young Lady, and the plan was to meet at M& S in town . Like a idiot. I went to C&A in error. Poor girl thought she had been stood up...but was still there when the penny dropped and I realized what I had done.
  12. I saw The Commodores at the Apollo in 1976 I think. They weren't really well known at the time, but as a Motown fan and collector I knew a little bit about them. Obtained 3 autographs on the cover of 'Machine Gun' album when they got off th tour bus. I was aware of the names but not really that clued up. One of the autographs was a certain virtual unknown Lionel Richie. I preferred the Ballad type of songs that had done OK for them 'Sweet Love', 'Just to be close to you' 'This is your life'....and they were virtually solo spots for the piano player...i.e. Mr. Richie I vividly recall thinking that this guy is too good to be swallowed up by this 'Funk' Band.....he was so talented that he needed to go solo.
  13. No I didn't attend Kool and the Gang. I drifted away from Soul Music around 1976 or so....had some interest but missed a lot of stuff. Re Free Trade Hall trouble....interesting comment about Soul shows. I saw The Commodores there (Around 1978 ish).Massive fight in the crowd before the show. Al Green...I saw him at New Century Hall about 1971...forgot all about that, I think it was on the back of 'Tired of being Alone'. Also, Phillip Mitchell which may have been on the same bill.
  14. That Spinners/ Brass Construction programme looks familar. That would be the other Spinners show I saw. The Tymes...a bit vague here, but I know I recall them singing 'So in love'.. that stood out. This must have been around "Ms Grace , and You little trustmaker"
  15. Thanks. It could be Jimmy Helms appeared on another show. That revelation about The Spinners , being 1973, has left me being wary of relying on things that I thought certain were correct. I tend to relate the music with events in my personal life and friends. Some things are very clear , others tend to blur a bit. I know I saw Edwin Starr and the Elgins at a club in Chorlton ( Princess?) Because I spoke to Edwin in the Gents toilet and a member of the Elgins. That would be about 1971ish
