- Chairman of the Board - Manchester Show
Hello Meter Man Yes that about sums it up. Regarding the Four Tops, I saw them a number of times on their Manchester shows. Always very good, but I do recall seeing them blown away by The Spinners...75/76? Perhaps it was because The Spinner's show was fresh, and The Four Tops was "routine" by then. Great Show though.- You and only you - More mostly 70's midtempo mix
Some great tunes...lovely mix. These mid tempo 70s tracks really work.- Soulful Shack - northmanchester.fm 106.6

Ha ha..good tune too.- Hearing Unexpected Music In Unexpected Places!
Are you sure? With the state of the NHS,?- Chairman of the Board - Manchester Show
Thanks Guys. Yes...Summer of 1971 and that was the show, with the guy from Crumpsall, Manchester ( Blues & Soul article above) sharing my thoughts on the performance. People left head scratching I think...3 solo acts...not great either. Regarding the Flirtations...I can't recall if I saw their act. I Presume I did. Thank you.- Chairman of the Board - Manchester Show
Hopefully some kind Soul can help me....my memory is not what it was. I atended the Chairman of the Board show at Manchester Odeon, in I think, Summer of 1971 ? What I do recall is that only 3 members of the group appeared (General Johnson, Harrison Kennedy and probably Danny Woods). The remaining member ( Eddie Curtis?) did not appear and I don't recall the reason ( Did he miss the entire UK tour? Also, All 3 members appeared as a SOLO act, i.e. they did not sing on stage as a "Group". My memory is that most of the audience was confused as to the whole show. Doed anybody else have any recollection of events? Date? Suporting Act? Also, what happened to Caroline, who I took to the show?- Mike Terry ....UK visit?
Chalky, that's the one ...Thank You I was looking through some of your podcasts.....couldn't remember where the Mike Terry appeared. Considering the length of his Music career, Variety, and Quality of his Contribution s as a musician, Song writer and Arranger, does he perhaps have a claim to be the GOAT of "Northern Soul," music.? Thank you.- Mike Terry ....UK visit?
He seemed a modest guy but with a few tales to tell. He was asked about Mikki Farrow records....apparently he was married to her, which he didn't mention. I need to check Jack Ashford's book, but I seem to recall there may have been problems with Pied Piper and his connection with Ashford. His interview answer seemed to suggest that was the case..something like " I got out of that !!.." But what a legacy of Soul music.- Mike Terry ....UK visit?
Thank you Rob. You could probably make a good fist of a " 100% Mike Terry " all dayer. What a shame he didn't get a chance to come over here.- Mike Terry ....UK visit?
Just listened to an interview with Mike Terry, where he mentions the possibility that he might visit the UK. Did he ever do this?. He sadly died in 2008- George gently again...track ID
Nit seen it for a while but I think the "under cover" Policeman makes a big thing about buying/ searching for Don Ray.- Back Street backing track ---alternate vocal
Sounds like what I heard...but the sound from the decks was so muted that I coudn't hear the lyric which of course is a "tepid" attempt at the correct lyrics ( sort of).- Back Street backing track ---alternate vocal
Thank you Mick Confirms what I thought.- Back Street backing track ---alternate vocal
My impression was that it is a dubbed vocal....female...different lyrics ....and perhaps sped up. And the volume seemed muted...i.e. not a legitimate 45 that would have the usual mastering, volume etc....a bit like early pressings.- Back Street backing track ---alternate vocal
my impression was that it was the original backing track, different vocal.....BUT didn't sound an authentic Ric Tic Detroit 60s sounding track. i.e. a vocal has been dubbed on it.- Back Street backing track ---alternate vocal
No....it was a female vocal I think.....different lyrics altogether. Played a Prestwich Conservative Club , Manchester yesterday by a guest female DJ who did a nice spot. I think it was her who played " Change what you can" Marvin Gaye.....record of the day for me.- Back Street backing track ---alternate vocal
Heard a Female sounding vocal over the backing track to "Back Street" yesterday. (99% sure it was the original band track, not a cover) Seemed a tad speeded up new to me, can anybody throw light on this please?- North Manchester FM 106.6 - Soulful Shack
