Being Jackie Wilson - Radio 4
Heard this last weekend and enjoyed it. Reminded me how superb early Jackie Wilson tracks can be, incidentally found a beautiful copy of "Thats Why" on Coral in a charity shop yesterday!

Dance student interested in Northern Soul
Hi all My daughter is working towards a dance degree in London and is learning about loads of interestiing dance styles. Having grown up in a northern soul household she is aware of our scene and is interested to join an event see the dance styles and so on. Its been so long since I was at an event I am completely out of touch so question I guess is where might she go to see some decent dancers in central Londoon? I wondered about the 100 club as she is really near - any thoughts welcome?

Larry Houston Let's spend some time together Boot / Orig
I picked up a copy of this in about 1984 from a DJ at the Brewery Tap Barking and it looks a bit different than the above picture particularly it has capitalised lower case track titles both sides with all upper case artist name. Discogs reckons what I have is the 1st with Audio Labs stanped in the runout which mine is, but I couldnt say for sure its definitely a 1st pressing

New member introduction and thanks!
Been a long time viewer of this site and forum, and have benefited greatly reading various threads here, discovering more than a few new to me records. I have had a longstanding love of soul music, and was prompted to sign up following posts on the Terry Callier thread - I knew a little of his work but was blown away by "I don't want to see myself"! So background to my soul journey - parents had some motown and chubby checker records so that was a good start, but in the early 1980s joined the Mod revival as a teenager, and soon found my way into the northern and 6Ts soul scene - inferno singles (sorry!) and Kent albums (still being played today!). Visited Carnaby St most weekends to buy records and clothes in the old flea market. In around 84-85 used to frequent a place called the Brewery Tap in Barking where a mix of 6Ts and modern soul was played, records like Charles Johnson never had a love so good, Lets spend some time together - Larry Houston, On the Beach - Chairmen of the Board. Attended a couple of events at the 100 club, but dipped out of the scene around 85-86, nevertheless retained the love for soul to this day, and recently started buying singles again after a long long break - can't pretend to have the musical knowledge of a lot of the people on the forum but wanted to join anyway and share in the discussion a bit rather than reading from the sidelines.

Had to sign up to thank everyone! Did not realise that Ordinary Joe was originally done by Jerry "chalk it up" Butler - absolute dynamite!
