  1. Strange thread... what's the problem with asking for a wanted 45 in the wants section of a 45 forum??? And if the guy would want to sell it with profit that's his decision isn't it. I think you'd find it rather common in the record world that records get re-sold, some with profit, some without.
  2. New northern, modern, funk, oldies etc. added over the last few weeks, worth a look! Includes: Roddie Joy / Syl Johnson / The Poets / Reflections / Maxine Brown / Pat & The Blenders / Intruders / Lynn August / Jimmy Williams / Johnny Caswell / Cookie Scott / The Megatons / Buddy Terry / The Starglows ... Check it >>>HERE<<< cheers diggersgoldrecords
  3. Damn, not a good look to see your name being associated with dodgy ebay deals, especially when you're from Belgium. You really should've checked the name that you were discrediting was correct before posting it on here. I appreciate the apology though, and i understand where the frustration came from.
  4. Added another batch of 45s over the last few days, soul/northern but also some R&B, Blues, Funk, Oldies, Surf etc. Cal Waymon - Let Me Be The One (PA) Lowrell Simon - Love Massage (Zoo York) great modern! Syl Johnson - That's Why (Twinight) only 3 quid! Chuck Jackson - I Only Get This Feeling (ABC) The Megatons - Shimmy Shimmy Walk (Dodge) rare groove >>>Here's the link<<< and lot more, if you want a soundclip just ask. cheers diggersgoldrecords
  5. Gotta agree, very no-nonsense and very informative.
  6. I've added a bunch of new 45s to my shop in the last 24hours. A selection of stuff from my stock, all priced to sell. All of them are the cheapest on eBay or the only ones on eBay. Also be sure to check out the 60 record lot i've listed today, with hard to find soul/r&b/funk stuff. I've just listed them and i'll wait a day or so before i start promoting my stuff on the other boards, so the soul sourcers get first pick! Just click >>>HERE<<< to check it all out. Btw: if i have some more time i'll list some more stuff before the end of the week, but i'll post up a message if I do so. cheers diggersgoldrecords
  7. less than 24 hours to go for the auctions!!!
  8. Gotta agree with mulf here. I don't think the scene in the future will be as big as it is now, and might look very different. But the music's too good to be ignored, I've converted a few people myself, just by letting them hear a few personal favs. And everybody probably still knows how it is when you hear the first rare soul record, and how quickly it starts taking over your life. So the next generation will still treasure this music we all love, but everything surrounding it like patches, scooters, talcum powder, cover-ups , all-nighters etc. could be replaced by other things. But in the end...it's all about the music and I think that's one thing that won't be replaced! P.S.: Sorry if i'm stating things that have been stated before, but as a 22 year old I felt like i'm part of the generation that will "decide" what the scene will look like in the future, and I hope it's good news for the older generation that the music will get the respect it deserves.

  11. Wow, thanks everyone for all these recommended books. I've had 'The In Crowd' for a few weeks now and I have to say it's a nice book to read, especially on the toilet, or to just watch some pics of 45s and flyers. I agree, i've always been trying to keep an open mind, and I think i'll try to find some books that are about soul in the US and things that were going on when these records were being pressed. Maybe i'll try to convince my local libary to buy them all

  13. I got into this rare/northern soul stuff only a few years ago, when a mate recommended it to me. Still not really knowing what this northern soul thing was all about I noticed there was a book in my local record shop on northern soul called 'essential northern soul'. When I noticed that i immediately bought it, without looking in it, and went home. When i got home and took a closer look i noticed that the full name of the book was 'the essential northern soul price guide', and was just filled with names of records and label numbers. I didn't want to admit i'd just thrown away 25 quid and started checking the book for funny names. Now a few years later I have to say i'm really deep into northern/r&b etc., so the book proved to be the best thing I bought that year, but...I still haven't found any books on this topic, with cool stories, profiles,... So my question is: what are the best books on this topic, which one should I buy for the new year, and where can I find 'em?
  14. Added a few new bits to my shop today, some rare, some more common, but all ar in great condition and more than reasonably priced. All buy-it-now, so it's first come, first served. Cookie Scott Roddie Joy Kitty Love James Kirk Martha Branch To view the new northern sounds I listed click >>>here<<< The next batch of records will be added in a few weeks, but i'll keep you updated on that. cheers diggersgoldrecords
  15. Some new rare soul added to my shop. Rare, cheap and in cood nick! Barbara Mercer Sonny & Phyllis H.B. Barnum The Poets Jo Ann Garrett The Whispers ... cheers diggersgoldrecords
  16. Sorry if it sounded like an offence to the walloons, i was just pointing out his profile, as he always picks an adress in one of the main cities in the region as 'his adress'. Sometimes i wish i lived there instead of a dull city in flanders where the Nazi party has the highest number of votes... Maybe if we work together a bit and ask around a bit it's possible to find this guy if we know his real name. But i bet he is smart enough to always use aliases. If you have to avoid every country that has some dodgy record dealers maybe it's time to start buying off guys from Andorra or something. Feedback percentage is more important than the location of the seller i think. cheers dudeski
  17. This is indeed a recurring problem, i remember we've had the same discusion about avery similar scam a few months ago. These guys are actually quite easy to avoid...they're always from the southern side of Belgium (Namur, Charleroi,...) and have no or a low feedback score and they auction records that are very interesting for rare soul collectors. Maybe it's good to know that Charleroi has the highest crime/fraud rate in western europe... So if you anyone with the same profile...avoid at all cost!!!!!!!!! I guess i could ask around a bit to see if anyone knows of any fishy northern soul people in that area, but i doubt i'll find any valuable information... it's just a shame that these guys make it very difficult for any belgian soul dealer to build any credibility...
  18. It'll be played out at my next gig that's for sure I think i'll play 'the sun came out', because that's my favorite side at the moment. Maybe as a closer or something, because it's a funk night, and i can already guess the frowns on some faces
  19. Thx for the info guys! I was a bit suspicious because it was so cheap (£0,05!) i could hardly believe it was an original.
  20. I recently found a copy of the '21st' 'i just can't forget your name' on joy 672. I hadn't heard anything about this group before, but the tunes on the 45 were both pretty good. So i decided to do a bit of research... There seem to be 3 versions of this 45 around 1. 'I just can't forget your name' b/w 'the thought of me losing you' 2. same a-side, but b-side 'the sun came out' 3. same as 2, but with 'the 21st century' on label, and 'century' is crossed out with a marker (this is the one i have) my question...how did this happen, and is one of the 3 versions a bootleg or something? I think Joy was a detroit-based label, so maybe one of the detroit soul experts could help me out?
  21. Done... if there are any objections, give me a good reason to re-edit
  22. The thing about the blue beat wasn't in the description a few months ago i think (wikipedia descriptions can be altered by anyone, anytime...), and if it was in the description i probably left it out.
  23. Yeah, pretty good description imo (not perfect, but good enough) I used this text for an oral exam on northern soul a few months ago and i passed the course so it probably ain't that bad I have to say that my fellow students were very impressed with the 'ultra rare' Fascinations and Velvelettes 45s i brought as an example.
