Just tell Peggy that the DJ after you will be playing some mid tempo, some bloke called Danny, he might know him. That should keep him quiet for a bit Joan To be honest though Joan, I've been criticised in the past for playing too up tempo. So I shall be playing some mid tempo..... Well, one anyway

I think 2011 is going to be a monumental year on the rare soul scene, so much good stuff getting played out at the moment with DJs not afraid to treat a crowd with respect. This nighter has certainly got those DJs. Really looking forward to hearing what's on offer Saturday night, I can't bloody wait in fact

Is this the same as or different to the appeal launched by Pat Lewis and detailed a few days ago on Soul Source: and linked to: https://www.mynewslet...tter/1410683423 Seems like the initial problem is raising sufficient funds for the funeral.

		News: Steve Mancha Memorial Fund

...I'll be making a contribution come payday, and I'm not trying to negate what is in every way a worthy project, but surely Steve's dependents must be receiving his publishing royalties on the 60 odd songs that he wrote, and that are registered with some pretty major publishing companies both here and in the US? All of the important songs that he wrote for Groovesville Music and Gold Forever Music are registered with various UK publishers, with royalties on them presumably being collected by MCPS. As I've been involved in ther most recent reissue I know that all of the Gold Forever songs are currently available on various Invictus/Hot Wax CDs via Demon, so there will be publishing royalties accruing across that part of his catalogue alone. One song doesn't make a lot of money for a writer's dependents, but 60+ must bring in a decent sum, surely? Perhaps his mother and brothers need to be made aware of this, if they are not already aware...

		News: Record Digging Stories.. Book..

the stories from some of the young midwest 'crate digger' minded collectors of the early 90's are mind blowing. diggin up burried records from the backyard on the north end of detroit, to being handed respirators and gloves to brave the deep dark basment full of 100's of thousands of 45s on the westside of chicago dead animals, toilets that drain onto basement floors, a very recurring smell of human piss, more mold than you want to imagine, rotting floors, etc. A lot of amazing records came from these young courageous lads... matter of fact they still are
