  1. Saw it last night as part of the Odeon's Unseen Screen. It is fantastic.
  2. Seen it its a good film well acted, unbelievable that it was only 50 odd years ago in a free country freemen and women with the right to vote were refused the right, the bravery of the people who stood up and marched in to police llines comes across in the film The most moving moment of my life was being in memphis on the balcony where he was shot actually on the spot, it shocked me how much it got to me
  3. Wow that looks like it's going to be something special, to say the least. Superb song as well, I for one can't wait. John
  4. Hi all, I wanted to comment on the Ad as I think it is a really positive message to all those who still think that you are 18. I recently lost my Brother Steve who had suffered a Heart Attack during the Wigan Casino Re-Union at Blackpool Sept 2014, Steve was 51. So please look on this advert as a wake up call to all. I hope this does not offend but I just wanted to express my thoughts. Steve's Sister Helen. Take care x
  5. Nice to hear from some of the people in the actual project. Also interesting to hear that it's for the over 50's market. Maybe that's why I thought it was a little pants...
  6. Thanks for the link...as t'others have already stated it is a good little read and paints another level onto the advert.

  8. If you look at The periods of Northern being underground you'll probably be looking at a handful of years late 60s / early 70s and the 80s up to mid 90s. Other than that its overground. That cat was well out of the bag long before this film, which in my opinion is one of the only times 'the media' has got it right.
  9. Funnily enough watched it again last night with my non-soulie little sister. Great job Elaine and everyone involved good luck with the louvie awards John & Ali x
  10. Well good luck to the film, but still think the media and the establishment will never understand Northern Soul! It's too good for them! Keep it underground where it has always thrived, or they will just end up ridiculing the scene, just like they did in the late 70's!
  11. Elaine will go far ,a great new talent in the movie world!
  12. Got this on an issue, ain't played it out for a while tho' but it's a great track
  13. I played it at Pure soul last week lol
  14. Putting northern soul on the map to many that had been unaware of the underground music a winner what ever the outcome to many -
  15. This and an NME nomination just shows how successful this film is and it's crossover appeal to a wider audience. Amazing achievement, well Done Elaine, proud of you Missus x
  16. Great affordable double Sider on repeat lately,
  17. Cool million - dontcha wanna dance heard it on Steve Gs show, been on rewind all week for me.
  18. I have thought for years that the perfect person to host a Northern Soul show for the BBC would be Richard Searling. He knows all the history of the scene, he was the leading longtime DJ at Wigan Casino, and is a great experienced presenter with a great taste in Soul music! He should have done that midday New Years day Northern Soul show! Come on BBC!
  19. Thanks for posting, here's a clip of Nolan Porter and Stone Foundation performing "Keep On Keepin' On" for BBC 6 Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0Q2dmxhEYY
  20. A couple I think are ripe for a revival are.... Jay Walkers - Can't Live Without You - SHIO Debonaires - Headache In My Heart - SOLID HIT Leon & The Metronomes - I'll Catch You On The Rebound - CARNIVAL Don't get to many UK gigs these days so they might already have been revived Cheers Pete
  21. Dance With Me - Joe Mckeever - A.M.S
  22. Yes i agree about the Chuck but i personally think Chuck's vocal is better but overall the song is not as good as the Four Tops ( the backing on Chuck is not brilliant ) and with the Four Tops you have the bonus of Ask the lonely , but great to see the Chuck version get a release via Kent, who have a knack for releasing great music in a great way with a amazing attention to detail. ( thats got to be worth a christmas card next year from Ace )
  23. 1) little Milton-Don't turn away-glades ( for the little Milton fan club the other person knows who he is ) 2) Tommy Hunt-Comin' On Strong - Dynamo 3) Archie bell and the Drells - Green Power - Atlantic 4)General Johnson and the Chairmen- Don't walk away - Surfside 5) Gladys knight and the pips - love was made for two - cbs ( hope to see her this year ) Hope your well Sean and still loving the music ...just getting back into stuff and pulling stuff like this out to play , i hope the above ,people enjoy but that's up to them nothing rare just good but that's what it is all about or i'm i missing something.
