  1. I have a sneaky feeling Mr Hampsey will say it'll sound just as good as it did on March 5th. Drink less, piss less, miss less
  2. Mr Hampsey ------how good will ---ONE More Hurt --sound at Just Soul on July 2 nd!!!!!!!!T.C.
  3. Great track, Sean. No writer credit for that one so I wonder who wrote it? I'm hooked on 'One More Hurt'. Paul
  4. RIP and good luck from Spain. Here, we follow the fight. Now, against the bank and politics. the revolution will not be televised. Yes, now is the moment. may 15th.
  5. Oh, sorry, I almost forget to inform you about my new radio. Check it and enjoy with all this music. http://ondadrimeros.playtheradio.com/
  6. Wow, this must be wonderful. I would like to be there. I think that in Spain, this is imposible. Saludos from Spain.
  7. Can only endorse everything you said Paul. Like yourself I've bought from Roger before, always been pleased with his price and service so he got my biz once again. Bought and paid for mine late in the day at 16.45 when most sellers seem to think "fook it, I'll sort it tomorrow". It arrived next morning at circa 10am, an amazing 17hrs later. Highly recommended seller.
  8. Even if you had not come across his other work , you will have heard and enjoyed " Fortune Teller " at some point in your life . Another sad loss . Malc
  9. My copy arrived today so I look forward to hearing it later.
  10. he gave me so much pleasure over the years i can still remember ordering lipstick traces from my local record shop ist time round it took one month to come in and yes i still have it R I P BENNY SPELLMAN BRIAN WALKER
  11. It just seems never ending. Another memory dies. I was late in hearing Benny Spellman. I heard Lipstick Traces on pirate radio (Radio Invicta I think) and being in a group like almost everyone else back then, we just had to do it. Other groups all seemed to be doing Fortune Teller, but I just loved that New Orleans groove of the 'a' side. RIP Benny.
  12. I always got the impression he was writing about real life, either personal experiences or things he had observed. And there's nothing more interesting than real life.
  13. Hello The 'Just Soul' gig has also been announced now (had to keep that quiet for a while) and here's something I put on facebook a couple of weeks ago... 14. Hello Jocko, I'd bought mine in advance from eBay seller boogaloo161 (Roger) so it was shipped as soon as he received stock. Good price and free shipping, I often buy CDs from him. Paul
  15. My copy arrived on Saturday. Great value for money.

  17. What a fantastic unissued track we have this in stock from Monday onwards SY.
  18. There was a nice little obit on Radio 4 today. Not over the top, pitched quite nicely I thought. There was one for Flick Colby too. For a mo' I thought that was a bit... incongruous, but then I chilled. I've never chilled before. I've always wanted to try.
  19. A philly gem of Debbie's can be found on the new "Spirit of Philadelphia 3" compilation cd as well.
  20. Thanks a lot, Mike. All outlets have stock now and sales are very strong. Best wishes, Paul
  21. Hello Macca, Debbie has been there all the time, really, using her real name Maydie Myles. She's recorded a few disco and house singles over the years and recently issued a jazzy-flavoured CD herself. The internet enabled her to see how much overseas interest there is in her old recordings. No doubt she saw references to the Today album reissued on CD and the Ace/Kent albums featuring her GWP recordings. Lots of people have been looking for her for years but were unaware of her real name until recently. Facebook has helped her to connect with friends old and new. I put her in touch with Tom Moulton and Patrick Adams, they hadn't spoke for more than 35 years so it's like a big reunion. Ady from Ace/Kent has hooked up with her so they'll be able to chat about the GWP history and fill in some missing details. Maydie is also featured in the new issue of David Cole's 'In The Basement' magazine so it all seems to be happening at once. She's been a bit overwhelmed by the activity but she's enjoying it. And now two UK gigs have been confirmed so far, the Scottish weekender and other gig which was already pending confirmation (I don't think it's been publicised yet). Maydie's facebook page is here: http://www.facebook....1100722&sk=wall Paul
  22. The Decca tracks were cut in 1967 at Willie Mitchell's studio in Memphis and it's interesting to learn that 'Check Yourself' was actually produced by Isaac Hayes and David Porter, although the label credit went to Joe Medlin. Paul
  23. Yes it's gonna be a good year for "Debbie Taylor". In addition to the Scottish weekender, there's a possibility of another gig or two. Copies of her new US album (Maydie Myles) are being imported and she's featured in the latest issue of ITB magazine. Maydie is on facebook too, she's enjoying all the attention. Paul
  24. i left home three days ago, and no one seems to know i,m gone.!
