Limelights On Maship's Auction
I imagine anyone would be bidding for the record in any format and not specifically for the tiny promotional stamp somehow making it more rare / valuable. If I was listing it I would mention that too though, obviously you want to make any item look as good as possible.

Ebay Advice - Listing On Dot.com (Us) Site?
Are you sure your feedback is not 100%? Because it only counts the last 12 months now in the percentage, and you haven't sold for 12 months right? I think I bought a bunch of stuff from Dylan's auctions. EDIT: that should "is 100%" not "is not 100%"

Sophisticates On Mutt
My friend needs a copy, I will buy one for 40 pounds if someone has one (pm me). Thanks.

Jimmy Mack - A Woman Is So Hard To Understand
There is no Chicago 45 by a "jimmy mack". But like I was saying before, the flip of the Classics' hit "looking for a love of my own" is a song called "I'm jimmy mack". And the record is arranged by James Mack. it seems weird that the arranger would be a member of the book though.

Jimmy Mack - A Woman Is So Hard To Understand
Last week on my radio show where I played a palmer record Bob Miner said that there used to be stock of Jimmy Mack on Palmer around in Chicago. So I guess it's possible it's arranger James Mack. And like I said, he might have also been in the Classics.

Jimmy Mack - A Woman Is So Hard To Understand
yes it was new york. I don't know anything about Jimmy Mack on Palmer. Maybe it was the Chicago guy. But I don't know what the Chicago guy sounds like because he wasn't really a recording artist, he was an arranger. He passed away a few years ago. I was upset that I didn't call him before he passed because I suspect he had something to do with the Classics (he arranged it and one of the sides of the wise world record is called "I'm Jimmy Mack").

Jimmy Mack - A Woman Is So Hard To Understand
Rob, I already said who it was, it's this guy: https://www.rentistoodamnhigh.org/ Not related to any other of the several artists who recorded as "jimmy mack". The Chicago person you're thinking of is James Mack, most famous for arranging Tyrone Davis' "In the mood." I don't think he is the Detroit artist.

Jimmy Mack - A Woman Is So Hard To Understand
It was in my wants thread. I mainly wanted it because I thought it was really funny that it was the "rent is too damn high party" guy (the record was decent too). The first time ever I had a want filled on soul source! Thanks to the people who offered it for sale.

Monster 70's Podcast By Mr Fish
The list is taking me a long time, I will get it out on Monday. There probably won't be anything you don't have, I'm not doing a list of rare items, just sort of under the radar items that new collectors might not know. I might throw in 1 rare record at the end of the list. Most of the online places that host music (e.g. soundcloud, youtube) enforce copyright via "audio fingerprinting". It does some sort of analysis on the music and compares the results to a database of songs and will reject your mix if it contains a song that they have in their copyright database. But apparently you can defeat the audio fingerprinting by pitching up or down 5% or more. Either way, I appreciate the fact that you cared enough to do a real mix, people think they can DJ or make a mix just by throwing random stuff together. Thanks.

Monster 70's Podcast By Mr Fish
listening now, nice. I like how you also actually made a "mix" versus a file with a bunch of songs in it like most people do. A bunch of the cuts sound pitched up, did you do that intentionally or to avoid the copyright / song detection?

Wow $$$ And I Thought I Had A Copy
yeah, not as bad as the reggae dude but there are some french / algerian kids who mess with some modern auctions. usually boogie specific though.

good job

125Th Street Candy Store
I seriously doubt it is a bootleg. Manship's guide listing the other side as the a-side doesn't mean it was the promoed side. A large percentage of northern sides are really the b-side and if he tried to list the "true" a-side first it would probably be confusing as a northern soul focused guide.

Double Soul Records
I think it's from before jerry-o went to detroit, and that it's half chicago half st louis. Bernie Hayes still writes a column for a st louis newspaper, I think I googled once and found his email (but can't find it now), maybe you can find it and ask him.

Sweet Soul List
this is taking me a long time to do and I want to make sure there are audio clips and everything, so I probably won't get this out until Monday. But feel free to request to be added to my list if you're not on there already. Thanks.

Can Anyone Make Sense Of This? Jean Carter On Abc?
Definitely looks like a Jamaican bootleg
-
Double Soul Records
I think it was a chicago label with st louis connections via bernie hayes. what detroit thing is on the label?

John Manships Auction
I have a Jamaican press of this LP if someone wants it, it's on a blue stax label.

Sophisticates On Mutt
Thanks for the correction. I think it was a little more than a few years but either way your point still stands -- if there's many copies floating around in the UK, that changes things.

Sitting In The Park 5-6-2012
Thanks everyone. That specific set with the linda jones I decided to go back and play some more classic records.

Sophisticates On Mutt
I don't think that this record is common. I think it's the type of record where demand affects the price dramatically.

Poets Wrapped Around Your Finger - J2
To be precise, there is only one record on Red Bird credited as the Poets. The same group had a second Red Bird 45 as the Insiders and went on to have two 45s on RCA as the Insiders before becoming the main ingredient.

Poets Wrapped Around Your Finger - J2
the new volume will have the J2 record after the symbol records
