Hi. Does anyone have a current value on this? I remember a year or two there was some discussion about the value, is in in vogue do to being funky soul? I know the sweet side has been known by (mostly Japanese) sweet soul collectors for a long time. I bought a copy on ebay as an upgrade and it ended up being polished which is a pet peeve of mine. It's shiny and plays well, hard to grade because of the polishing, maybe VG? I want to price it so someone actually buys it (or I could trade it). Thank you.

there are two buddy scott 45s on the label. I think the scott brothers owned the label, they also owned shi-lush and al-tog. Some of the missing capri numbers are shi-lush numbers.

It's great that you enjoy your collection. This thread is about a deluded record hoarder who thinks his collection is worth half a million. He probably just accumulated records and didn't even enjoy them.

If anything, if he responds denying it that is more condemning evidence against him. Unrelated, I wish I had a 1500 person email list to sell records though, that's awesome.

I don't know this seller so I'm not really trying to defend him, but it's possible that they thought the record they had was an original and they stole the scan from an old auction because they were too lazy or unable to take a photo. I've seen this happen at least once on here even with a seller stealing photos for their auctions with no disclosure about it. I had a problem with this recently on ebay, a seller used a picture of a stock copy and I ended up getting a promo copy with the same song on both sides. Either way, did you contact the seller and ask for a refund or did you go straight to the dispute? I've found recently that most sellers are willing to refund your money if you have a polite interaction, especially since they know they will lose a paypal case anyways.

I'm pretty sure the Five Stairsteps was released first. First of all, it's the only one released on single and it was a hit, Impressions was an LP-cut only. Second of all, this says the Impressions LP was released december of 68: https://www.bsnpubs.c...dah/curtom.html The five stairsteps single was released late in '68 but I'm pretty sure before december. Obviously the five stairsteps LP that had the track came out after the impressions LP though.

In my experience, people with a tiny amount of records tend to have more interesting titles. Large collections usually are all hits. When someone calls me I try to ask them to read off some of the titles to me so I can get an idea of what to expect.

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to mention serato, it's almost standard for other genres of DJing. Also, re: someone's post about sound quality, you could use lossless FLAC files or high bitrate mp3s from your laptop. They would sound better than beat up 45s probably.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying (sorry if I am), but how is a record a "true one-off" if you and your friend have a copy for sale?

I think the 70s tracks I like are probably influenced by having listened to a lot of rap music, I like the thick production style and thick harmonies.

yeah, the green lp is baby i'm for real. i do know and like "I like your style" but it has more of a generic motown sound so it's not as good as the later 70s ones to me. I do really like "we can make it baby" but it's not as good a ballad as the bells or baby i'm for real.

what's weird about the ebay auction is that there isn't just 2 bidders at $200, there are 3. so someone wants this record. this was the first mckinley mitchell 45 I ever had, I have a soft spot for "this place ain't getting no better" because I bought it early in my 45 collecting days.

I always loved "baby I'm for real" and "the bells" but I totally slept on a bunch of originals tracks. Some are so great! I knew about and liked "good loving is just a dime away" but I just got a stock copy with this on the flip, so awesome: also, about a year ago I discovered "ooh you (put a crush on me)" also awesome: any other great tracks I'm missing by the Originals?
